The O's don't have anyone in the minors that would be an improvement over him.  The cupboard is bare when it comes to catching prospects.

Palmer is making no secret of how awful Severino is. Mountcastle isn’t great but he’s still a positive defender at first. He can stay… Severino can go.

Palmer had Dempsey for half a decade........he knows good catching when he sees it.  Severino is awful.

If severino has made it this far playing this poorly, what can he do to lose his spot?

Severino seems to have the tools and ability to be a decent catcher behind the plate too. That just makes it worse when it's a lack of effort instead of talent at being a good defensive catcher.
