Will Jahmai Jones be called up?

If Franco goes on the IL today will Jones be called up to the O's?    Jones would play 2B.  Moving  Leyba and Valaika to  3B,  Urias at SS.  I am thinking that if Jones is promoted he plays rather than sits.

I see Graffanino has been promoted from Bowie to Norfolk maybe to take Jones place.

Bannon is on rehab assignment at Aberdeen and he played last night so he is not on his way to California.

Good observations.  And really, they need to drop Franco - regardless of his health, imo.  I don't want Leyba at 2nd anyway, and I think playing him at 3rd is a fair solution for the time being.  So even if Jones makes some errors, he may be helping the D just by moving Leyba to 3B.  I realize that's just a rationalization for playing Jones, but we don't have much to lose by giving him a try and see if he rises to the opportunity.

Jones played last night as well so I if he is coming up I would think he would have been not playing Thursday night for Norfolk.  The good news is he is in Charlotte so he could get a flight out of there instead of having to drive from Norfolk to a major airport hub.

What are you talking about?  You can fly direct from Norfolk to LA.

I would like to see this happen, but I think it is unlikely. They will probably figure out a way to keep Wilkerson.

I think it take 3 days to clear waivers and he was DFA'd on June 30.   So he shouldn't be available for recall until the 4th.

Also it does not explain why they promoted Graffanino to Norfolk.

I am not saying I know that Jones is being call up but it fits better that Wilkerson.

I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Wilkerson, the King of the up-and-down guys, but I am quite excited to see Jones, despite the comments about his defense. I’d like to see Bannon, too, though, and I wonder if that is in the plans?

I’m just still in shock that we somehow got something for Alex Cobb.

That's how desperate teams are for pitching talent. Even a guy like Cobb can return a little something in a trade if a team thinks he might have something left in the tank.

Cobb has a weird stat line this year with a 5.09 ERA, but a 2.65 FIP in 53 innings pitched. And Cobb pitches against the O's on Saturday.

What doesn’t amaze me is how sometimes guys magically grit out a year without injuries in a contract year. I really don’t remember Cobb pitching for us other than one of his first starts at DET where he fell apart after 3 IP.

It's those magical blisters that show up after Cobb signs a free agent contract for big money.
