Cedric Mullins 2022

It has been almost 20 years since the Orioles signed Miguel Tejada before Christmastime, and sent me scrambling onto the interwebs in search of a place apart from the water cooler to talk about how awesome the Orioles were going to be.    Since then, only he, Roberts and Machado have been able to produce more than one 5-win season.

Orioles 5-Win Seasons, 2004-2021

One and dones: Mora, Bedard, Markakis, Wieters, Davis, Pearce, Schoop, Means  (and Mullins TBD)

Repeaters: Tejada 2x, Roberts 2x, Machado 3x

Jones never quite got there though I'd sign up in blood for Mullins to average 4.1 across a 5-year peak, even if last year's 5.7 is already part of that.

Go, Cedric, go.    Don't let that Trout guy get your All-Star starting spot back!

Maybe unrealistic to expect, but not unrealistic to hope for, considering he just did it.   Like you, I’d be happy with a 3 WAR season.

Mets Receive: Paddack, Hosmer, Means

Mets Lose: Smith, Allan

Padres Receive: Smith, Mullins

Padres Lose: Paddack, Hosmer, Abrams, Gore

Orioles Receive: Abrams, Gore, Allan

Orioles Lose: Mullins, Means

Mets bolster rotation behind DeGrom and Scherzer with Paddack/Means.

Padres unload Hosmer's contract and add another great OF for cheap. Rotation still strong behind Yu/Snell/Clevinger.

Orioles receive a top 10 overall prospect and future Leadoff CF, a change of scenery, risky potential TOR piece to plug in with GrayRod/Hall, and another high upside arm years away coming off Tommy John.

That was great to see last night. What a clutch moment. And then he smacked another near-home run for a double later in the game. Hopefully he's getting on track and adjusting. 

By the way, I was at the game and could see Elias and Sig  near home plate. They were standing and applauding with the rest of the stadium during the grand slam, pretty neat IMO. [Insert trade joke here]

That swing on the double against Hader was pretty sick.  You won't find a much quicker swing than that.  It's amazing how he's had almost no issues facing lefties since switching to the left side full time.

Mullins showing some good signs. OPS above .700 now for the first time since 4/12. After the rash of Ks during the first week or so, those have come way down. 

First 7 games: 13 Ks, 1 BB
Next 9 games: 4 Ks, 5 BB

It's only fair to extrapolate negative data from a SSS.  It's the Orioles Hangout Way!

Exactly. These dead ball s are helping everyone. Hopefully when the weather warms the offense will as well. Or maybe MLB will stop messing with the ball and let it go back to what it was last year! 

Mullins will be fine.
