Noah Denoyer 2022

Haven't seen much about this guy, but he has progressed up to Bowie in Age 24 season. Undrafted minor league free agent in 2019 (not 2020). Most of his innings have been at Delmarva, now up to Bowie after quick stint at Aberdeen. So far at every level he has had an ERA in the low 3's or under, with 10.6 K/9 vs 3.5 BB/9, and he is now off to a strong start at Bowie. Just a solid consistent projection. Last night went 4 IP, O ER, 7K, 2 BB's, so I wonder if he could get on the prospect radar screen in the near future.

Twitter feed @noahdenoyer37 has some nice video. Looks like a nice hard slider for his out pitch?

I've been watching him for a bit, but just haven't seen enough yet to get me excited over him. The fastball can be bleh at times and the slider is inconsistent. Saying that, he's at least a guy i pay attention to and I'm going to take a harder look at him with Bowie since I have better video options when they are away from Bowie poor camera angles.

Seems like he has gotten consistent production in AA. What's stopping us from moving him up to AAA? I believe they have a spot in their rotation.

He’s thrown 20 innings in AA.   I doubt he’ll be promoted anytime soon.

Glad he’s having success, but he looks like a reliever at best. Only pitches from the stretch and almost fell down twice in that video.

I only saw him slightly lose his balance once. Not sure what that has to do with his ceiling. Many starters pitch from the stretch (Darvish, Burnes, Strasburg etc). I've never understood the wind up. Seems like any marginal effect on stuff isn't worth the moving parts.

That said, I forgot he started in A+ this year and am certainly getting carried away.

Fastball looks so so at 93.  From that video it looks like the 12-6 (or is it 11-7) is THE pitch.

Seems like a candidate for a driveline offseason to see if he can gain 4 mph and change his profile. Not saying that's at all likely to succeed, but it's what guys are doing nowadays.

    • The problem is when you look at the system behind the top 3, it has largely underperformed this year. Estrada, Etzel and maybe Forrett are the "breakout" guys when you look over things, but I'm honestly struggling to figure out who #4 will be. There is a HUGE dropoff after the first three. The high end Latin guys have not really done anything impressive outside of Estrada, and the next level of guy that you mentioned all have disappointed to an extent. Beavers, Horvath and Wagner (injured mostly) have all been disappointments. Povich and McDermott are kind of who they are with command. I'll be honest, Norby may be #4 right now.  I kept looking at the list and I wanted to move more guys down, but realized the guys below them are doing poorly too.  Hopefully this draft will bring some exciting new blood in because Elias and his scouts are swinging and missing a lot on college hitters since the 2021 draft, and that is making the system look weaker. Having three potential impact guys in the system makes the system still a good one, but they really need some guys to click in this second half. There is talent, just not guys putting up numbers to match.
    • You can take prospects for Mountcastle as additional farm depth to trade from in exchange for pitching.  Or involve him in a 3 team trade.
    • I hope not. I like a day in between Burnes and Rodriguez. I like having balance in case of a Povich stinker.
    • I don’t see why this would be a trap series, we’re at home and we’re not coming off a winning series with a big rival like the Houston series.
    • This is not good.  We need @Roy Firestone  to respond and reverse this.
    • I think our mid level guys who we hoped would take that next step, Beavers, Bradfield, Horvath, have all disappointed to some degree.  I feel like there’s a lot of those guys and some potential high end Latin kids (Liranzo, Sosa, Estrada, E. Garcia, Morfe, etc.) that are just too far out to get too excited about yet.   There’s a big hole between Norfolk and Delmarva.    It’s kind of like the old days when you’d try to get excited about a Mac Horvath hot week or Trey Gibson striking guys out in low A.      The system could really use a 2nd half breakout from some Bowie and Aberdeen prospects.
