I suppose you could suggest Hyde might be worried about Bautista also walking the next guy and then you’d really be in trouble. That seems like a stretch though. You have to walk Vlad there!

It's a combination of everything that makes it an awful decision.  He is their best hitter, he is hot, his run doesn't matter, walking him sets up a possible DP as well as forces at 2nd or 3rd.

Look at it this way, barring a DP you needed to get 3 outs.  Vlad, Kirk, Teoscar, and Espinal were due.  Would rather have to get Vlad, Kirk, and Hernandez, or would you rather get Kirk, Hernandez, and Espinal?

Not walking him says you would rather try to get Vlad instead of Santiago Espinal.  That's just absurd.

I didn't mind if we lost. He didn't hide from their "BEST". He went for the strikeout, 100mph fastball.

Next time Bautista will get him.
