I agree.  With the tiebreaker on the line, this is not the day to "get some guys in the lineup".  Unless Vavra is hurt I can't see the justification for leaving him on the bench against a right-handed starter.

Now? Not five times, but I’ll grant he’s better right now. The difference is Lyles knows how to pitch, but can’t always execute because his stuff is middling to slightly above average. But after a 12 year career he should know how to pitch. He has the benefit of experience. 

Hall has a slightly higher ceiling.

Phillips looks like a little leaguer at the plate. In fact there are probably little leaguers in that series who are bigger than him.
