I don't care if he's telling the truth, telling half the truth, or telling a complete lie............. Why is it Jose Canseco's job to snitch everyone out? I'm sure he has alot of respect from the baseball community, steroid users and non.

Would you rather have players cheating and breaking the records without us knowing?

Wasn't it known before the Canseco book that players were using? I didn't know he uncovered the whole scandal. I always thought he was just a guy out to make a little bit of money by outing others.

Since you read his first book, did he mention... that in -

2003 -- Charged with steroid use in home.

2001 -- Charged with two counts of aggravated battery for nightclub brawl along with brother Ozzie.

1997 -- Arrested, charged for battery (hit second wife during argument).

1992 -- Accused of aggravated assault (rammed first wife's car).

1989 -- Arrested and charged with illegal possession (carried 9mm handgun onto UCSF campus).

1989 -- Arrested for speeding 125+ mph.

He's a dirtbag, and no I don't plan to read any of his books...

I don't plan to read his books either.

And he may be a "dirtbag".

But, I am glad he did what he did.

Most scandals, organized crime groups, drug-rings, etc.... get busted up because a "dirtbag" turns on the group.

Just because he isn't a choirboy doesn't mean he doesn't have credibility on the issue of steroid use in baseball. To me- Jose Canseco has more credibility than most on this issue.

I don't know why he would want to make "a little bit of money" by writing a book. Remember that he was making millions of dollars playing in the Majorleagues? I don't think he'd need to go all those troubles just to get a little bit of money. I believe he was revealing the truth, he also says in the book that a right amount of steroids can be really good for a person's body, because it slows down the aging process. This is why people should read his books, at least listen why he did those bad stuff.

He was the first to put names on paper.

Raffy was one of them. Raffy immediately threatened to sue Canseco.

I guess Raffy just hasn't gotten around to following through with it yet. :P

Was he out to make money ? Or out for revenge against MLB for blackballing him (I don't know if they really did, but he thinks it) ? Or both ?

No matter his motive or how big a dirtbag he is- it is a good thing that he did to "out" the steroid use and individual users in MLB.

He is part of the solution to cleaning up the mess, not the problem.

We need more like him. There are far too many in MLB who want to pretend it didnt happen.

Yeah exactly, he put those subjects in.

First of all, 2001 night club brawl was instigated by a guy who grabbed Canseco's girlfriend's ass and causing nuisance. Canseco was merely trying to protect his date.

1992, charged with hitting his wife's car was nothing more than an argument between him and his wife. In the book, he said he and Jessica was driving side by side and screaming at each other and somewhere on the road, two cars collided. The court took no notice and just put him in jail. You can also read it in his wife's book that she was stunned by all the judgements and the media.

1997, same reason as the 1992 car accident.

1989, he was carrying an unloaded gun in the front seat, for his own protection in his car. What do you expect? He's a celebrity.

1989, arrested for 125mph, I agree that was his fault, he was driving 125 mph with his wife when he was trailed by the police, and he himself said that he decided to make a break for it, and also by his wife.

2003, charged with steroid use in home, he himself said that he did not use steroids 3 months prior to that examination. It was clearly revealed later that the sample urine/blood was someone else's and Canseco was released without even an apology by the court. In result, he stayed in jail for 3 months without doing anything wrong, and his wife started dating Gonzalez in Kansas City which led to separation.

I think that'll be enough for now.

Well, of course when you read his explanations things are all nice and squared away.

Wait a minute...

The 1989 incident in which he was carring a gun, loaded or unloaded, makes no difference. Did he have a permit like use lowifes have to get? He's a celebrity so he doesn't need one?!?! Are you serious? If he feels threatened than do like the rest of us have to do, get it legally. You know this reminds me of the time Tom Selleck was on the Rosie O'Donnell Show. She's a very staunch gun control advocate and thinks that nobody should be allowed to carry a gun, and Tom Selleck who is a Pro 2nd Amendment advocate was on her show promoting a movie. She really laid into him on the gun issue... of course she is allowed to hire bodyguards who carry guns, because she's a celebrity.

In 1992, on the charges in which he hit his wife's car, he agreed to community service and counseling.

In "1997, same reason as the 1992 car accident." Huh? So he and his wife were arguing so he hit her, accidentally? In 1997 he was arrested for smacking his wife in the head and in January 1998, he was sentenced to probation and required to have counseling.

The 2001 bar incident in which he was the victim, he plead guilty to one count of felony aggravated battery and two counts of misdemeanor battery! A deal was struck during jury selection in which he would not get any jail time and was placed on probation for 3 years, required to perform 250 hours of community service and attend counseling.

Where's there's smoke, there's fire. The guy has serious anger issues and needs some major counseling and is still a dirtbag!

He's a dirtbag because when he doesn't get his way, he wants to fight someone, particularly his spouse.

Jose Canseco is not a liar what so ever. If you guys who say he's a dirtbag, liar or whatever reason you hate him from reading all the articles from the media. You should read his first book before saying that, he talks about how he was pitted against McGwire, dissed by umpires, and get dumped by the media, and a true story about how players got the roids to bulk up and hit homeruns.

Personally I'm really interested to find out what Arod did to hit all those Homeruns. I'm looking forward for his new book, for those Canseco haters, you should all take a look at his first book "Juiced" if you really can't believe what he said, you might as well take a look at his wife Jessica Canseco's book "juicy".

I don't think he's a liar at all. I think he has some dirt on a lot of players. I think there were tons of guys using, in various stages of intensity. That's not the problem I have with this POS whatsoever.

He stated in his first book that he wanted to extol the virtues of steroids. He wanted to promote their use. I've also read that he "just wants to do what's good for the game. If he really does.... let him go to the frickin' Mitchell commission! Or even the Balco prosecutors. Don't WHORE yourself out putting it in some tabloid book, just to cover your debts from your latest fines and court costs and alimony.

The only thing worse than a snitch, is a snitch who only does it for money. ::spit::

His money is GONE. The last book only squared his debts. This book is obviously only to continue his sordid lifestyle.

Reading his book is fine. It gives you one side of the argument. If you don't dig farther and accept it as THE gospel truth...

whatever.

You need to broaden your horizons. ;)

I doubt Arod ever conversed with Canseco more then a hello. And Arod certaintly isnt a huge strong guy. He was alot smaller in his younger days but I highly doubt any steroid use

I dont know about this Arod is huge. Just look at his quads he's a beast.

I was actually looking at AROD tonight, because of this thread. He's just a huge man. Must be 6-5 ish. But he doesn't have that Barry Bonds, Batman, The Hulk, bloated DC Comics muscley look. He's just huge. A tremendous physical specimen.

Now he may have dabbled, who knows. I just think his success is genetic, not chemical.
