Will Elias offer more than 3 years to any FA pitcher?

MLBTR projects that Senga will get 5 years and Taillon, Walker and Manaea will get 4 years.  Of course that does not mean it will happen.  I am not sure Elias goes more that 3 years on any FA pitcher.

I see FA as supplementary to the O's plan.  They have starters Grayson, Kremer, Bradish,  and Hall that they will build around.  Means, Voth, Wells  are other contributors.  Any FA starter is additive

To the OP:  I can see a game of options being on the table too.  Like a player option as a hedge for health and allow them to get paid later for performance.  Say 2-3 years for $20m and an option for 1-2 years $15-17m (just making up numbers for a phantom SP).

Elias says they are looking for 2 bats in free agency. Obviously the in house guys are not good enough or not ready in his opinion.

The guys that are cheap and had on a 1 or 2 year deal aren’t upgrades.

One of the two bats is a backup catcher and the other a utility infielder.  😉

O's have to do better than a Ubaldo/Cobb signing.  I feel like those signings were because those players dropped to them.  The better FA SP were already signed.  In the case of Cobb, he was the only decent SP left and no one wanted to give Cobb more than 2 years.  Elias should be signing who fits his system best, not who is the cheapest. Yes the O's should be willing to go 4 years for the right pitchermaybe even 5.

Agreed, I’d like to see him go after Senga.

None of that changes the value of Mateo or any of our guys in the market.  It makes them expendable to us.

      1) I feel like we could’ve used some veteran star power leadership  2) Money 💰…if need be get a switch hitter  3) I’m standing by sign Burnes …I anticipate 6 or 7 years … Fail or Fall? I expect him to disappoint … In addition to Burnes I’d be looking to extend Eflin  4) I think we have a number of guys leaving … we almost certainly have a pick for Santander and Burnes if Elias fails. But I’m willing to wait and see since the new owners may push him to bulk up the team. Preach get on base and make good contact over swinging for the moon.    In regards to pitching it’s the rash of arm injuries that has me concerned. Was it a fluke or coaching philosophy. I’ll chalk it up to bad luck but boy we had a lot of it  7) I think Gunnar is the guy you go after… if it’s a no …you can early extend Westburg. I’d want to see Adley rebound. If the front office is confident he will maybe you extend him now.    8.) I’m fine with McCann but perhaps we need a C3 with the way we regularly play both. 9) I’m fine with what we have if everyone is healthy this coming year and Felix is ready to roll from the get go. I believe he makes Cionel, Cano, Dominquez , Coulombe and Soto better. If you want an upgrade then I guess you can trade some as depth   10)I think he likes to take shots on lottery tickets… I don’t think it’s out of the box for him. Holliday depends if your moving Mullins along.

      This years playoff lose does not reach the top 5 in terms of pain for me. 1.   When the Jet beat the Coltsin the 69 Superbowl.  Now that is pain. 2.  Mets beat the heavily favored O's in the 69 WS 3.  Pirates beat the O's in 71.   Family my ass. 4.  Jeffery Maier robs the O's in the 96 Championship game vs the Yankees 5. Cleveland's Tony Fernandez  homers off Benitez  in the 11th to beat the O's 1-0 in the 97 Champion Series. Love the O's.  This years lose was not has bad as any of those.
