Great point man. Its easier to frame guys like Spense watkins because at least hes around the plate. These guys like Rodriguez, Hall and Kremer have no idea where the ball is going. No clue.

Have you followed their careers?   Until this season, Rodriguez had very good command.  In fact, in his first start last week, I’d say his fastball command was excellent.  The breaking stuff command hasn’t been there this year and his FB command wasn’t as sharp in his second start. But to say he has “no clue” reflects ignorance of his career to date.   If you’re basing your observations on two major league games, that’s just foolish.

Similar point on Kremer.  The guy walked 2.4 batters per 9 last year and his command was sharp most of the time.  He hasn’t shown that this year - yet.  But to say he has “no clue” as if he’s just some hard-throwing chucker is patently wrong.

Hall - well okay, it’s probably fair enough to say he’s got no clue where the ball is going.  He’s tough to hit though.

Bottom line, it’s early in the year and several pitchers aren’t showing the kind of command they will need in order to have good seasons.  That includes Irvin, who’s main attribute is having good command over an assortment of pitches, which he absolutely needs in order to survive.  But that doesn’t mean that these guys are incapable of doing better, or that they’re not aware that walking hitters while throwing other pitches down the heart of the plate leads to bad outcomes.  We just have to be patient and hope these guys get their acts together and pitch like they’re capable of.

Indeed. And remind ourselves that we're 7% into the season. 😆

Its easy to have good command in the minors when all you have to do is rear back and throw 98 straight down the pike. That wont fly in the MLB.

If you are talking about GRod, I’m going to just mark you down as knowing nothing about him at all if this is your actual opinion of him.

Is Watkins paying you to come on here and be his white knight? Good Lord man!

I thought this was the Adley thread.

You must be new here.

Yeah, back to Adley.  Let’s not sully his thread with this other nonsense!  We only get a player like this once a decade or so, let’s celebrate it!

.373/.467/.627 on the young season.  4 homers, 9 RBI in 13 gsmes.  That works for me!

Seems to be hitting the ball harder, too.
