What happened to Schoop’s Career

I thought that guy had so much promise in his young twenties.  Not much OBP, but decent pop.  Was able to have a 100+ OPS for a few years at a young age.  Surprised to see the drop off.  Was it injuries?

He's in his 11th season, he has had a perfectly cromulent career.  Not everyone can be a star.

He always had a poor batting eye, which I think decreases margin for error and can cause some guys to age less gracefully once reflexes and bat speed decline.

Schoop has 20.1 career rWAR. Thats an excellent career for almost anyone. Seems like once he turned 30 his bat just went reall downhill. Not sure why. Maybe bat speed. Like the above post from Spy Fox says, he doesn't walk alot.

Most players peak in their 20’s, athleticism starts to drop off, and some guys are better able to manage that then others

Schoop looks very much the part of a hitter with poor strike zone judgment who starts losing his athletic ability during his 30’s.

When the O's were last playing the Tigers, Kevin Brown said that Schoop was the worst hitter in the major leagues last year.

So yea, kinda.

I'm sure folks did worse and didn't accumulate enough at bats to qualify.

Schoop has had a fine career. Made almost 50 mil by age 31. 1k hits and 175 HRs from a middle infielder.

Didn't Schoop take money up front from some company for a certain percentage of his career earnings? I wonder who won on that deal.

He did.  I would be interested in an analysis of that deal, now that his money making career is largely over.
