Twin Twins series

That comeback feels a bit like barely escaping Milwaukee unswept, but going to Yankee Stadium next series is different than coming home to the Royals.

We do kind of get a break the Yankees rainout in STL on Friday forced them to play a doubleheader yesterday.    It is also Gerrit Cole's turn this afternoon ahead of the 4-game series, and there have been reports the Carlos Rodon MLB debut will be held to Friday right after we leave town.

Yankees are something like 12-15 since losing Judge.

They just completed losing 2 out of 3 to a team with a worse record than Minnesota.

But I'm sure we'll hear plenty of talk from folks on here who think we have no chance to beat them.

We could be playing the Newark Bears and some folks here would give us no shot.

Heat check on the Bats, as Cowser gets a crack at helping the guys in an Ober rematch that makes Game 1 of the series feel like a free roll, house money kind of game.

Rank in AL SP Active Roster K-BB, 30 IP min:

(44) Irvin vs. (14) Ober

(12) Wells vs. (33*) Gray

(48) Gibson vs. (3) Ryan

*Sonny Gray at 0.29 has the best HR/9 of the 57 eligible pitchers by a lot, some of which is skill, but 2nd place is 0.60 and I don't think that is sustainable.     We'll see if we can get a HR, or any runs period.     K-BB's biggest blind spot is probably HR prevention.

Irvin held his own against these guys last week...we'll see if he can go into the break on a high note, or if percolation of Grayson watch intensifies.

They had an offday yesterday and a leisurely Royals sweep the first part of the week, during which Jorge Lopez returned to the Active roster.

Tonight's game looks like a classic "Score 14 runs in 1 game and get shut out the next" kind of scenario.  The way we've played the Twins the past few years I think I'd be satisfied to take 1 out 3 and get to the AS break and rest up.  Winning the series would be a terrific end to a great first half.

Feel the same way.  My Granddad used to always say "save some runs for the next game".

Exactly what I was thinking.  If I were a betting man, I'd put money on that outcome.

Cannot wait to see if we actually learned anything the last 2 nights hitting wise. Hopefully our multi headed hitting coaches have a good strategy going in how to attack Ober and Gray. As others have said, I would be thrilled to take just 1 of 3 in this series.

Irvin held his own last time, hopefully he does the same tonight. Wells just needs to limit the HRs and I have no clue what to expect from Gibson.

And for those who didn't know -- tonight's game is on Apple TV. After the last few nights of awful production value on MASN, this will be a pleasant change of pace.

The Twins rotation is currently the best in MLB in all five of IP, ERA, WHIP, K's, and AVG against.

Something to keep in mind if the offense struggles again this weekend.

Its a proper competition of playoff caliber staffs and offenses.

Of course I hope sky is the limit and we get HFA throughout the playoffs, but these 72 hours might be a dress rehearsal for the real thing.     Except then Ober goes to the pen so Pablo can take a start.

It's also worth noting that teams that play a night game and then travel after the game in the middle of the night to another location to play the next day have a very poor record overall.    It's a very solid betting angle that unfortunately goes against us tonight.

Minnesota/Minneshmota. Despite all the naysaying, I feel like the young guys are feeding off of each other and the vets are sitting up and paying attention too. I'm looking for them to ride it in the ASB...they'll take 2 of 3 from the Twinks.

See, now was that really that difficult?
