Mountcastle    9 for 29      920

OHearn             9 for 27     1061

Gunnar             9 for 26      1030

To you.

The only ones with any real statistical significance are Adley and Santander, and those are still pretty small sample sizes.  Are you really going to say Hicks shouldn't DH based on 7 ABs?

You probably should have expanded the stats to multiple years.

You are talking to Wildcard.

Of course he's going to give significance to 7 at bats.

No I am not saying that.   Just passing on the stats as they are.

You literally said that it wasn't a good idea to DH Hicks after posting the stats

I was going to post just that - Adley and Santander being the only two with significant sample size.

Here's the one thing I think we can draw from this:  the Orioles don't want a full time DH, they want to rotate people there so they can give breaks from fielding, fiddle with matchups and set up pinch hit scenarios.  So unless the reincarnation of Don Baylor walks through the door, we should expect the aggregate.

Well I don't think a 100 sample is the same as 7.    And Hicks and Santander are  veteran players so looking as more than one year is a good idea and more than OPS.

I posted all of DH numbers for this year.  If someone wants to go further they should.

Santander numbers would give me pause before putting him at DH.   Hick is just something to watch.

Do I think Hyde will stop putting Santander at DH.   Probably not because he is trying to get him off his feet, out of the outfield but keep him in the lineup.
