Hey, what matchup could possibly be more compelling for this week's Sunday Night Baseball than Red Sox-Mets?!

Not gonna lie, MLB and ESPN probably both know that more people will watch a bad Sox and a bad Mets team play than would watch a great TB team.

Without any MLB marketing: you'll have a World-Wide-Audience tonight!

(@ least one viewer in Europe🤣)

Won't get much sleep this weekend (next 2 games are 1am where i live 🥱).

Hope Hyde goes with the hot hand (Jordan!) and holds Frazier @ bench (no Frazier rant ...). Gibson in game 1 gives me 😱 but my guts tell me he'll have a good game like he did 5/9 vs TB.

Go O's. 🥳

More then one.Unless this is you.

Bradish (6-4, 3.05) vs. Elfin (10-5, 3.59)

Rodriguez (2-2, 7.33) vs. McClanahan (11-1, 2.56)

Wells (7-5, 3.54) vs. Bradley (5-6, 5.29)

AL 50 IP Active Roster standings, K-BB ranking has these matchups for the last three games:

(27) Bradish v. (6) Eflin

(32) Grayson v. (28) McClanahan

(19) Wells v. (4) Bradley

Bradish-Eflin a fun one as both guys shaping up as dudes who will take ~20% of these Clubs starts over the next few years races.    The Stuff+ readouts for Bradish are way ahead of the K-BB outcomes, while Eflin is the other way around.

It is team game 97, so I believe Bradish needs 6 innings tonight to hit 97.1 and momentarily qualify for the ERA title.

Bradley is another rookie whose peripherals are maybe goosed by the talent to blow away most Bats, and like Grayson not much talent refinement for the challenge of MLB Bats has occurred yet.

For me, this just suggests that it’s a mistake to get too overly focused on strikeouts and walks.

The Rays are now 31-33 since their great 29-7 start .

They are still super tough to beat. Any of the defensive plays don't get made last night and we probably lose that game. If I'm a Rays fan or coach I am livid at Randy for that one play. And he looked terrible at the plate. That said, he will probably kill us at some point in this series because he always does. But when a rookie makes you look stupid like that in a big game... whew.

I know you prefer ERA, and over larger numbers of innings ERA and K-BB tend to converge.    I believe ERA in even a couple months sample has a bigger chance giving you a bad read how a pitcher is doing.

To be clear, I don’t think any stat is perfect.  But if K - BB is interpreted as saying that Rodriguez and McClanahan have been basically equivalent pitchers this year, or are likely to be equivalent for the rest of this year, I just think that’s nonsense.  Of course, I’d love for Grayson to prove me wrong about that.

Headed for game 4 and the O’s are sort of playing with house money, having guaranteed they can do no worse than a 2-2  split and a virtual tie for the division lead, ahead by percentage points.

Taj Bradley has been inconsistent, but threw 5.1 shutout innings last time out and pretty much throttled us when we saw him before, facing only 3 batters over the minimum in 6 innings.  Let’s hope Wells is on his game.

This is the type of game that good teams, and I mean by that potential championship teams, win. The killer instinct should be well honed. The team should want to beat them soundly. Wells should be motivated to make a lasting impression on a team that he is likely to pitch against again in the playoffs. Good teams win this game and set a tone for the rest of the season. I think this game is a big one from a psychological standpoint. I hope the players feel the same.
