And isn’t the average throw from SS longer than the throw from 3B?  I believe I’ve heard that before but not 100% certain.

Very fair, very fair indeed! It's usually a good thing when you have debates about whether a guy should play short or third because it means they could do both. I just think you're getting more total value out of Ortiz/Holliday at short and Gunnar at third than vice versa.
