But 9 times out of 10, with 2 outs and the runner going on contact, a runner with good speed (which Hays is), SHOULD be able to score on a hit to the outfield.    You don't see a fairly fast runner get thrown out in that situation very often, let alone by as much as Hays apparently was.

The ball was scorched and right at the left fielder on one bounce. Was an easy decision to hold him up. Not easy enough apparently.
