Athletics threatening to have the worst run differential since 1800s

At -334 right now. The 1932 Red Sox hold the modern record at -345. 5 games left including tonight's game.

The historically bad Tigers that won only 43 games in 2003 had a -337 differential while the '62 Mets had a -331 differential, playing 2 less games. The 2019 Tigers, a horrendous team that has gone under the radar in the discussions about worst teams ever, had a -333 differential. Can the A's break this record? Gonna be a tall order as they finish against the Angels.

Interesting.   They've already won more that game that than Tigers team, another more recent Tigers team, the 2018 Orioles, and the 1960 Mets.

The worst the O’s got to was -297.   

I honestly don’t know what the A’s are trying to do.   Whatever it is, they’re doing it incompetently.  Billy Beane picked a good time to get out.

A’s won a 1-run game today, so they’re now sitting at -335. Getting outscored by 11 in the Angels series would give them the record. Angels suck so odds are it won’t happen. 
 

On May 28 the A’s were 10-45 with a -199 run differential, so given that, not breaking the record and getting to 50 wins is somewhat impressive after that kind of start.
