Yankees getting Stroman just in time for him to go belly up in his age 33 season is totally cool with me.

We chose not to sign Ed Rod. Who realistically did Elias expect to sign?  We should’ve just brought Gibson back. A fine regular season option. We went 20-13 in games he started.

Not sure Elias really expected to sign anybody.

More BS ….. If the Yankees wanted Stroman he’d be a Yankee already.

This offseason is the same song and dance as the trade deadline. Ed Rod, Cease, and Montgomery, are all available. Great fits. Cost too much. Giolito too much of a risk. Same with Wacha.

So what will the excuse be this year?  “We like our guys?”  Last year it was “We underestimated the market.”  It’s been the same market with literally pretty much the same names since last offseason/deadline.

Pretty much. I think Elias is well aware of the SP market and knows he has to make a trade or roll with his internal options (Wells, Irvin, Hall), hoping that Means can fill the Gibson role.

The excuses are obvious.  Full year of G-Rod after the great 2nd half he had last year, full year of a healthy Means.  

Been saying this for awhile.  That's how they're approaching the starting market this offseason, they're still looking at internal options to get better.  Might be considering Hall for a rotation spot.

What I don't understand is, if that is the plan, why say anything about bringing guys in?  Talk up your internal options.

Maybe they want somebody else more and if they don’t get that guy then maybe they’ll sign Stroman.

Kicking tires and trying to find a deal you can't refuse is part of the game.

Honestly, Irvin was supposed to be a pretty good option to eat innings. When we traded for him he had just pitched back-to-back seasons of 180 innings at a very solid ERA and FIP. 

The fact that he fell off early last year was kind of a surprise. He righted the ship late though, so maybe we're discounting him as an option more than we should.

Uwasawa and Brasier are our most likely targets. Not the #3 SP that we wanted to bring in, but we all knew that. 

Heck, use a bat to buy one of the Dodger’s blocked internal SP options. We lost Means after this season too.
