Defense is a factor as to why our top hitting prospects are in AAA

Tony pointed out in the game thread that Loftin only had 70 pro innings at first base, and he probably cost KC the game with his play at 1st in the 8th inning.

This is a guy who played 2B/3B/LF/RF and even a little bit of CF in college and in the minors.   Many would say that a good athlete who can play those other positions should be able to step right in and play first.  But that didn't seem to be the case tonight.

So MAYBE there is something to wanting Holliday to get a bit more 2B experience before putting him there in a MLB game for a contender, despite his obvious physical talent?   (If that is in fact a reason he is currently being kept down)?

Counter point.  If true, then Holliday should have played every defensive inning at 2B in ST and should have played together with Henderson as much as possible.  Also, if more 2B experience was a prerequisite why say Holliday had a strong possibility of making the team when you knew he was extremely unlikely to get enough game reps in ST?
