You're right. Which is why I have limits to what I'm willing to do. But you never know until you try. People on this message board never thought we could get Corbin Burnes for Joey Ortiz headlining the deal but here we are.

Plus we have a good rapport with the A's front office based on the number of trades the Orioles have made with them.

Never hurts to at least call the A's and ask.

Yep, that is a Santander special.  McKenna seems to not be the best of defensive subs.

He is fast but he just gets to places quicker so he can drop it faster.

We got six years of Mayo.  Give them a call.

Uh... no thanks.

As good of a reliever as Miller appears to be, if we consider trading Mayo (which I hope that we do not) it has to be for more than a closer who we will only need for this season.

Don’t forget Spence pitched three scoreless innings. A’s picked him up in  the rule 5 draft last dec from the yanks. Guess they won that one and handed the birds a loss. Nevin and Hernaiz, that orioles gave to A’s,  helped A’s beat yanks, so O’s are 1-1 against them already this year.

Another Brandon Hyde (smart guy in the dugout) mismanaged game. Putting Mckenna off the bus in a close game in RF so he can have fielding practice. Santander should be in that position...it's not like McKenna brings huge bat to the plate. Kimbrel should have been yanked much earlier. He is either on or off and it was obvious to the baseball universe tonight wasnt the night. You cant win em all but seriously Hyde has some real bad decision making history.

Or they could wait 2-3 years and trade him for prospects who are nearly ready/surer bets. Why trade for A-Ball players now?

Yes, you’re exactly right, which is why they might turn us down, but it certainly worthwhile to ask.
But the point is, they are not the least bit interested in guys who are major league ready now. they don’t give a flip about all the guys we have at Norfolk.

This was a very winnable game, but you can't win close ones every night. At some point, your offense needs to score add-on runs.

This offense is beginning to look like a feast/famine kind of offense, which is very discouraging.

This team will never win anything with this bullpen. In today's game, you need a dominating BP to win. This has been a problem in 2022/2023 and is still a problem in 2024. This has been Elias' only shortcoming.

So not a totally easy chance, but definitely one a defensive replacement should make. Maybe McKenna needs to blow one game a year on defense so they can win 101-games.

It's like an offering to the baseball Gods.

See, Elias really is playing 4D chess.
