For sure.  I didn't realize Miller was eligible.  I can't see Cowser beating him out at present since Miller has been so dominant.  Cowser is going to have to accumulate more of the counting stats to beat an otherworldly closer season.

The Rockies made him mortal. He has a 1.95 ERA now.

I’m partly venting because I hate the fact that the all-star voting starts so early.  And this discussion is even earlier than that, by 2+ weeks.

I remember going to Rangers games with my father back in the 70s, and ushers would wander through the stands passing out ballots. I would get a ballot and a pencil and vote for all the Rangers. dad would get the ballot and carefully study it. The only Rangers he ever voted for were FergieJenkins, Mike Hargrove and I think Jim Sundberg.

It was a lot of fun to talk to him about it. He wanted the best guys, I wanted Rangers.

I used to vote for whichever NL candidates I thought were the worst, because I wanted the AL to win.  I’d vote for any Oriole who had a reasonable case, but otherwise just went for whoever in the AL I thought was best.

There’s about 8 weeks until the ASG. What if Kimbrel racks up 8 saves and has 20?  He’s 3rd in the AL now. He could be somewhere between 20 and 25 saves at the break pretty easily. He’s got a shot.

We have a ton of save opps. Kimbrel is the Raffy Palmeiro of closers. But most are…

His FIP is up to 0.00

If it’s possible to have a negative FIP then there’s something inherently wrong with the stat. Kimbrel also had one after his first few outings.
