He was definitely optioned. So it's a little odd to list him in the ML roster moves here.

Here is what MLBTR says: 

Additionally, outfielder Heston Kjerstad was placed on the IL with a concussion, retroactive to August 1. He was optioned to the minors on that date but this IL placement presumably rescinds that option.

Is this some type of procedural move so that Heston can be with our team, and team doctors, in Tampa Bay for that series?

He got hit about 3.5 weeks ago now. Poor kid has dealt with a lot.

He said that he didn’t report re-occurring symptoms until a few days after being optioned.

Well at least this makes some sense now. I like how they made it retroactive so he is still officially with the team. Suggests that when he is healthy, he comes right back in maybe?

Feels appropriate too as bean ball was root cause.    His play had generally been very good.

Roster Resource's phrasing is the option was "rescinded".

Or maybe so that he can get paid a major league salary rather than a minor league salary, since his on the IL for an injury that occurred with the major league team?
