  1. 1. How much faith do you have in Elias to address the needs this month?

    • Total faith. In Elias we trust. He's not going to waste this year of Burnes. We're getting a very good SP and RP, at the least.
    • I feel pretty good about the deadline. Fairly certain he will address the pitching in a meaningful way.
    • Eh, not great? There may not be a lot of sellers and Elias may not give up the pieces it will take. Maybe a deadline akin to 2023.
    • It's gonna be a total botch. Elias misreads the room and can't lock down any meaningful trades, while other teams are aggressive and get deals done.

I reiterate my vote. I don’t actually think Mike will do nothing, but I do think he will do nothing significant, which I think was the actual intent of the question.

I think a far better question would be to ask what is Mike’s goal? This is the third year of success, even less than that if you remember that last May or so we were 10 games under .500.

Maybe he doesn’t care about winning a series this year and is more interested in his pipeline of successful players?

It’s clear he has to trade several players simply because they’re wasting away in the minors, but he certainly hasn’t yet.

Who is wasting away in the minors?  No one is the answer.  They gave Holliday second base and he wasn’t ready despite the majority opinion here at OH.  Stowers and Norby aren’t here because there are better players at the major league level.  Mayo is not wasting away.  If he doesn’t come up until next year it won’t hurt his career one bit.  They want him to get better at defense or he would be here.  They will move someone in the offseason to make room for him and Holliday if he shows he is ready.  At 20 years old he can spend a couple more years in the minors and still won’t be wasting away.

1. The new owner needs to sign Burnes, Rutschman, and Henderson to long term deals. Consider similar deals for Westburg and Grayson.

2. Don’t really care about short term trades that supposedly get us to the WS. More interested in long term success.

3. Willing to trade any of Hayes, Santander, Mountcastle, Stowers, Norby, Beavers, Bradfield, or lower prospect for RP or 4,5 starter.

I have a ton of faith in the FO, but the way the poll was worded, had to cast my vote a little lower.

We won't know for years - if ever - which offers were made but rejected.

Grayson has given everything I was hoping for from Bradish.  Burnes has exceeded the hype.  So, we need to replace the #3/#4 pitcher we expected Grayson to be.  Suarez is still a great surprise.  Kremer, in my mind, is trending upward.  A solid #3 would be thrilling.

On the reliever front, one solid (non-elite) leverage-type reliever can push Tate/Baker/Akin back to Tidewater and make the whole BP look better.  And Coloumbe returns for the push.

I guess I'm saying we don't need an ace and a closer, but a #3 and a 7th inning specialist.  Should be doable.

They are wasting way because they are major league ready players who are not on a major league team. They are wasting away because we can’t use them. We don’t have a place for them, but instead of trading them, we are letting them languish.

It is silly not to find a trade partner for them. If the value is low, well, the value is low, and you get what you can.

I was talking about neither Holliday nor Mayo, and I’m sorry I wasn’t clear enough. but you mentioned Stowers and Norby and you mentioned it exactly the problem that exists they’re not here because we don’t have room for them.
I am one of the very few voices who wants mayo to remain where he is unless he develops worthwhile defense, although I would be happy to trade him.

Because there are “Better Players” doesn’t mean they aren’t wasting away in the minors. Neither guy has anything left to prove in AAA.

You’re right about Mayo who is 22 …. But we have 6 prospects who are 24 or older in our top 30. These players start to diminish in value due to age.

Me too. I think he’ll get us a game 3 SP that’s a better option than Suarez, and he’ll get us a high leverage arm for the bullpen.

But… other people have different wants/expectations.
