Easily the best game I've seen in years...

It's a very enthralling combination of two things:

1. Too teams that are good, but aren't *that* good.

2. The intensity of a 1-game playoff.

And, wouldn't you know it, it appears to come down to a blown call at the plate. I think the ump did the right thing initially, by simply making no call. That's what he's supposed to do when the play is not resolved. What seems goofy is that he suddenly decided to call the guy safe, just a sec before the C finally tagged him. That seemed downright bizzare to me...

I think he still got in but his hand was stepped on by Barrett's cleat so it was hidden from view.

It doesn't look like he got the plate but on the other hand, it is tough to tell if he didn't get a finger tip somewhere on the plate.

The ump was going to call him out if Barrett held onto the ball i think.

The ump also should have been in better position than he was.

It appeared to me that he was going to call him out if he had held onto the ball and couldn't get a good view of whether the ball was out or not.
