Tough loss. Let's see how they respond. Shame that O'Day has only allowed runs on 2 occasions and we have lost both. Ump missed the call but we did play with fire.

I've never been in the "ump blew the call, but we should have overcome it," or the "ump blew the call, but we could have won it if we XYZ today" camps. To some extent there's a little truth there, but bottom line, the ump took away a two-out strikeout, and the game-tying and game-winning runs for the Tigers should never have happened in that inning. To me, the blown call directly took the game away from the team that earned the win.

I know I've said it many times before, but as a baseball fan, I dream of a glorious future day, where 100% of games have their outcomes determined solely by the players on the field. One day.

I know Victor can hit but he can't let Miggy go deep there. Tie game with our pen I'll take my chances.

Again, not a position he should have been in.

Maybe (small chance) they bring O'Day back out next inning to face Cabrera leading off... but if he still hits one out, you have a tie game after he does so, not a Detroit lead.

Ump missed the call and the Upton bloop double never should have happened either. Britton pitches the 9th. My point is even after the missed call and HR by Martinez he can't let Miggy go yard. He missed inner half, a full swing that ball goes close to 500 feet.

    • In 2017, Chris Sale had 3 years of control and was traded for the BA #2 prospect (Moncada), the BA #32 prospect (Kopech) and two much lesser prospects, the highest of which was Boston’s #9 prospect in their system before the trade. Sale was entering his age 28 season and had 5 straight seasons averaging over 200 IP and 5 fWAR.  https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/05/the-trade-that-started-the-current-era-of-white-sox-baseball.html And that was 7 years ago, and the way the league has valued prospects has vastly increased since then and pitcher injuries have similarly increased. Skubal, and particularly Crochet, have pitched on 2017 Sale’s level but their durability and length of track record are not even in the same zip code. And Sale even had an additional 0.5 years of control.  I think the only trade since then with anywhere near that prospect capital going back was Soto, and he was about as valuable and reliable as a player can get. And even that package was probably less valuable than what Sale brought back since the way the league has valued top prospects has continually increased. Prospects on Holliday’s level are virtually never traded. And Basallo and Mayo are not too far behind him, and still the top ~10 type prospect that are traded exceedingly rarely, and only for exceptionally valuable returns - which even Skubal and Crochet do not approach. If they had the exact OPPOSITE health history and had been durable and putting up these numbers for years, maybe it would be a conversation.
    • The sad thing is the Nationals gave their fans an entire weekend for James Woods. We will announce like 1 PM tomorrow. We have 3 games vs LHP this week and there’s an easy way to start Mayo 4-5 times this week.
    • Reading the tea leaves on his Instagram post today, he’s coming up.
    • Fansided is so bad. Rangers could easily get a better prospect than that but I do like Yates as one of the BP targets.
    • Is there anybody off the waiver wire we could aquire that could help us?  It has worked in the past!!!

    • Good call but I do not think Tarik Skubal or Garrett Crochet are Justin Verlander or Gerrit Cole or Zack Greinke or Corbin Burnes, and think Elias/Sigbot have good taste assessing the elite vs. the very good.
