I had some relatives who lived there. I liked it ok when I visited, but I wouldn't want to live there. I feel that way about most of the mountain and west coast time zones. My career has taken me all over the west coast. California is beautiful, but I just don't want to live there. Same with Seattle. No one reason why. Just an east coast guy I reckon.

Awww... too bad! I'd even buy you lunch if you came to visit! I grew up here in Colorado and have lived in three other states (and traveled all around the country, really) after graduating from high school. Finally missed CO so much that I moved back home here, and there's nowhere else I'd want to be. Always nice to see my general area listed in those "Best Places to Live" lists and such - there are soooo many reasons why it's wonderful here. But, to each their own, of course. (The lunch offer still stands, though!)

Can someone give me an update, way too many pages to read after getting on tonight. Is there insider information the reason why this post is so long? Thanks in advance!

Nothing new really, Roberts is technically the next in line to be traded. No new offers to be speculated, just the same ones over and over.

I would definitely come live there if it weren't for so much family here. Course I would miss the Orioles and Terps a lot. But, that is why God created satellite.

Just that BigBird says the Rockies are on BRob's no-trade list, which makes little sense to most of us unless it was done back when he signed his contract and they were non-competitive, in which case most of us suspect he would gladly waive it to go there now.

Now that he has the Rockies on his list, I'm sure his agent would try to posture to get compensation to waive the NTC.

Not if he wants a trade to actually get done. I suspect Roberts is a lot more interested in getting to a competitive team and being able to have a somewhat normal spring training than in squeezing a couple extra dollars out of the deal.

Maybe he doesn't like the cold?

Been to Denver a number of times, also Pueblo. Col. Springs, Ft Collins, and Greely. Only trouble I had was getting used to the altitude. Saw a Rockies- Stros game once in the pre humidor days and Berkman hit a pop up that carried over the CF fence, Lol. Gibbons would do well there.:D

I don't think it would be an impediment to a deal, but if the Rockies and Orioles work something out, BRob would have all the leverage and would be foolish not to ask for something in return.

We probably should start a new thread with the insider stuff quoted. I fear I ruined this one with a five page argument.

The basic answer is that Peace posted in another thread that his guy told him it was "100% that Roberts would be traded". You know what. This is my fault. I'll do the research and start the new thread. Give me a second.

This is Peace's post you are talking about from the Fogg thread.

I'm not trying to diss anybody, but I can't see what (if anything) skiba7 is trying to communicate to us, or why. As best I can tell, his position is:

  • While BRob might help the Cubs some, he doesn't think his Cubbies should give up very much to get him. Maybe a pitcher and a couple so-so guys or if-fy guys who the Cubs don't really need and aren't counting on.
  • He can see how O's fans don't wanna give up BRob without getting more than that.
  • Therefore, he thinks that a BRob trade doesn't work for either team.

Given all that, I'd think skiba7's real concern is Hendry, not us.

So, why's he hassling us? What Hendry wants (and might do) isn't our fault.

Shouldn't he be posting on boards where everybody's dissing Hendry for being a dope about wanting BRob too much? Or am I missing something?

EDIT: Never mind. (In the minute it took me to write-and-post this, a whole additional page of posts happened. 'Not trying to keep it going.)

    • I can't imagine they have any expectation of Mateo going back to being a regular. If he's going on his annual hot streak, then it's smart to ride him until he gasses out, then shift him back to his reserve role. Holliday is taking that full-time spot soon enough.
    • Urias has a career 103 OPS+. Had two hits and a walk today plus another squared up ball for an out. I feel like Urias is a bit of a forgotten man, but he is a very solid defender and an average bat. That's probably not good enough for us but that is because we are spoiled with plus guys at basically every position. I agree on Westburg though, if Mayo doesn't end up with 3B, Westburg is adequate there and so far his bat can play for a corner IF.  Hitting on Westburg and Gunnar the way we have really pushes our system over the top. These are guys we weren't necessarily counting on but they are turning into bona fide stars. Only question is how to find room for them all. Westburg 3B makes Mayo the heir apparent at 1B. Somehow he needs to push Mountcastle but he's not a FA until 2027. Maybe he takes Santander's spot and Kjerstad keeps waiting.
    • Interesting.  You know Gunnar and De La Cruz are the same age, yet Gunnar's put up 9.4 career WAR to poor Elly's 2.7.  If anyone was overrated during the last series it was Nick Lodolo.
    • I wondered about that too.  Maybe he'll take his turn on the IL when Grayson is ready to return.
    • It’s silly to be judging Bradfield at this stage.  I don’t know if he’ll be good or not, but I know you need to give him a couple of months at least before you have any clue.
    • Anyone else notice Kremer shaking his hand or fingers the last couple games and looking like he’s in pain?  I’m surprised Ben and Kevin didn’t pick up on it today.  It looked obvious to me.
    • Povich is a starter. It makes no sense to bring him up and put him in Baumann’s role. Especially not in a short term situation when he’s pitching so well starting in Norfolk.    also - it kind of feels like Baumann is just a placeholder. When wells and/or Grayson come back, there isn’t another logical move other than maybe option akin, who has pitched dramatically better than Baumann. But I can’t imagine Baumann surviving both wells and Grayson coming back without another injury.    I don’t think Elias is doing anything crazy other than holding onto assets with value until it’s necessary to let them go. Is Tate probably better in the long term? Yeah. But he’s also coming off a year long injury and they don’t want to overuse him. Let them use his option for the flexibility, manage his innings, let Baumann either prove he can rediscover early 2023 form or get dfa’d in the coming weeks while eating whatever innings we need him to. Not like he’s costing us games at the moment.
