Don't know about you...but I want Cespedes

Not to mention he has two seasons with OBPs at or below .300, which is a constant source of frustration around these parts. Actually, he and the much-maligned Adam Jones have the same career OBP (.319).

He's a very similar player to Adam Jones.

That was the comp BP on him when he was a FA, and it's been accurate so far.

Chain smoking as opposed to chain dipping?

Golf on WS day... apparently he plays a lot of golf prior to night games and talks openly about it.

The list of people disliked in Boston is long.

There's smoke everywhere...

Feel free to dismiss it if you want to.

I'm not saying he's a bad guy.

I don't know.

But it would concern me if I was handing him 100 million dollars.

That's not a bad thing, obviously, but with all of the kvetching about obp and plate discipline on the OH, I'm a little surprised there is such a vocal Contingent in favor of bringing in cespedes.

People seem to fetishize drafts picks more than obp nowadays. :)

Not sure if the rumors are true. Not sure if this is a Buck type of player.

On Monday, Bill Madden of the New York Daily News reported that all of Boston?s coaches ?hate? Cespedes. Madden claims the 29-year-old Cuban outfielder ?marches to his own drum? and that while the Red Sox were initially planning to sign him to a contract extension, those plans were quickly shelved.

Yeah, I sure bet the Mets regret the acquisition....

You are trusting the Red Sox judgement? I like results and he got the Mets.

Doesn't cost a pick.

I think there are too many stories out there and too many different teams, to not have some truth to the matter.

If the guy is nicked and hurt, and yet, wont stop playing golf during the world series, goes a long way to tell me where his heart is. Plenty of time for golf in the off-season.

Once a guy gets a bad reputation - regardless of whether or not it's deserved - every quirky thing he does is JUDGED as bad by a large group of people. And that's the case with Cespedes.

He had a 157 OPS+ with the Mets last season and has a lifetime 122 OPS+, so anyone thinking he's not a good hitter (assuming his health is cleared)... you're entitled to be wrong.

Sorry, I don't consider playing golf during the world series as quirky.

Very good hitter, that is true.

But, if teams don't want to keep him, what does that tell you?

4 teams in 4 seasons, is pretty damming evidence.

Then Kelly Johnson must be a REAL bad guy:)

I get your point. All I know, is he can hit.

Imagine if we had just kept Cruz....just saying:)
