They're fugly. Gausman should talk to him about Lasix.

Optical surgery is probably the most advanced medical technology we have available, in terms of how much they can do to fix problems. If you have problems with your pancreas, liver, or any of those ugly little gizzards inside, you're pretty much going to die. But if you come down with a condition that would basically make someone blind absent medical technology, they can replace your eye lens with a synthetic one that works just as well or even better.

My mom is getting cataract surgery soon. Unlike what they used to do in the 80s and 90s, now she is getting a lens that corrects her vision so she doesn't need glasses. She's going from being nearsighted, having astigmatism and cataracts, to having NONE of those problems. Incredible.

And he should say no to that. 10 for 300 could do it.

Give him the same deal as Stanton but with a higher annual salary. Make him a 12 year, $330 million offer with an opt-out clause after six years. At the very least, they should offer him something like a 5 year, $125 million contract just to delay his free agency clock for a couple years.

Weiters is a better version of Caleb. We might resign Trumbo, because who plays in RF, and if Alvarez turns it on, we should keep him, unless Nelson Cruz can come back to Baltimore. Matusz is as good as gone, as TJ took his spot.

I wouldn't extend Wieters. Joseph is capable starting catcher and we have Sisco coming up. No reason to extend Wieters when we need to extend Schoop and Manny.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alvarez has another 2014 season this year. That season was the result of pitchers not giving him fastballs to hit and giving him a steady diet of offspeed and breaking stuff. He crushes fastballs,

but everything else not so much.

Gary Thorne has no idea about pitch counts. He either flat out makes up a number that is wrong and you can see the pitch number right on the screen. Or he makes some pronouncement that is wrong. Geez. Does he not have someone feeding him correct info?

We have a bunch of interesting catchers. One of the stronger parts of our deep depth.

1st pitch was high and in FB. Fooled Kim and did an excuse me bunt down the 3B line. He beat it out probably. But Pearce dropped the throw, stretching.

That was Pedro whose ball Pearce couldn't come up with. Odorizzi didn't,t come up with Kim's squibber.

    • You said Ortiz was in the range of Basallo. That’s completely laughable.  They aren’t even close.    Bradfield has been in the range of Ortiz, as some have him just inside the top 100 and some don’t. Now, a few places did place Ortiz higher than any spot Bradfield has been but it took a while for Ortiz to be ranked and Bradfield not so much. Beavers will be there soon enough and since Beavers is much younger, they definitely could value Beavers as much or more than a guy like Ortiz…especially a team that’s far away.
    • I don't want to overstate it but imo having one, or preferably two, slots in the bullpen that you can shuttle guys with is a must.
    • Keep in mind that the bullpen had to cover 6.1 IP yesterday. 4 IP on Friday. All scoreless. Btw. Throwing 13.1 IP in a 3 games series is a ton for a bullpen.  I do agree that we use our pen so much that it would be more valuable to have a shuttle spot as the last spot than a guy like Viera. We should have a fresh arm for every game with the shuttle.
    • I don't think it's an outlier so much as by design.  Elias has been targeting LH bats in the draft. My guess is he thinks he can get a RH bat for the outfield on the cheap if he needs one.
    • Four hits and 2 ER in 1.1 IP is acceptable?
    • Thank you for allowing me to join.  We obviously have more pressing issues to deal with.  And you all have probably been over this a hundred times.  I was thinking about the prospect of losing the Santander and Hays right-handed at-bats in the OF soon (Hays will of course continue to fight into next year) and then I looked at our OF depth and saw almost all lefties in the wings.   Maybe Mayo, Norby and Rhodes will become factors, but when you get right down to it, I don't see a RH hitting, starting OF'er on the horizon.   Am I missing something?  Not a big deal right now, but seems like an outlier thing.
    • I don’t think we see McDermott this year.  His control is a major hurdle.  I’m not sure how Povich would do out of the pen.  I imagine it would be a challenge to get used to. But, I do like the idea of bring pitchers in as a reliever to give them a taste at a young age like the Os did back in the day.
