PED Suspensions Coming

IMPORTANT ON CANO: players are NOT automatically suspended for using diuretics. The suspension means MLB was able to prove he was using it to mask a drug. Cano tested positive before the season, appealed and dropped the appeal.

Do they test these guys during the season or just only test before the season? If they only test before the season, why was Davis suspended at a time that affected our playoff run ?

Apparently Cano tested positive during Spring Training and has been appealing since then. He dropped the appeal because he just got injured, and is allowed to serve his suspension while on the DL.

That explains the timing I was questioning earlier.

I wouldn't think an appeal would take more than a month.

Hypothetically speaking,  if Peter Angelos were to accidentally drop a banned substance into CD's gatorade, or replace his Axe Body Spray with deer antler spray, he would stand to save some money as a result of the suspension. Maybe that's how we get out from under his albatross contract. 

The Mariners will save ~$12M from Cano's suspension.
