I think DT really wanted this win badly and was very uptight in the moment of a tight ballgame - combine that with the likelyhood that he's seen fans run onto the field over a handful of times in his 20+ yrs in the minors - the act has probably gotten really old to him by now. That said, DT is the man - I really enjoy seeing the o's under the wing of a charismatic leader for a change.

This debate has been humorus. I have one question for 'LookitsPuck' though. I mean no offense but my curiosity is getting the better of me. Are you British by any chance?

El Gordo....were you in Scarface? Maybe at the Babylon club? Unforgiven..."you.... fatman speak up!"

I can't believe everyone is getting so uppity about this.

I think Trembley is overreacting ridiculously about this. Who CARES if someone runs across the field? Noone is in danger. It's funny. Leave it at that.

But he wants to overreact and beat up them? I think Trembley is the idiot.

Go ahead and negative rep me for it, but you guys know what I'm talking about.

You got it!

I can't argue with anything you wrote here. As usual, you're presenting a hell of a case for you side in this debate. I'm sorry to hear about that happening to you.

I wasn't impressed. I'm still trying to figure out why he's hell-bent on defending someone that referred to Trembs as both an idiot and a Nazi.

Lucky Jim may have your ear, but he seems to go to the wall for anyone who rips the Orioles from what I've seen. Of course, maybe my perception is off. If it is, I hope Mr. Jim dissipates that perception. But defending someone who castigates the Os on a regular basis won't help. Not that he cares what I think of him.

Oh, so we're not supposed to talk bad about the all powerful Orioles organization? Even when they make stupid moves?

This sounds like a certain regi....err, wait. I have to be good.

Wow...the rainout really got to everyone tonight, didn't it.

If I wasn't out of rep for now, I'd be slingin' greens (and one red) all over the place.

Let's remember that DT is dealing with morons on the field the night before he was scheduled to play at the site of one of the worst morons on the field incidents in recent baseball history. I'm going to cut him considerable slack for that.

Last year, when we were still in Section 16, some drunk moron came racing down the aisle between 14 and 16, and ran onto the field. The cop sitting there was so stunned, he didn't even react. Fortunately, this particular moron ran straight to the outfield, hopped the fence, and was dragged away. I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't ever want to be sitting four rows away from the next father/son moron tag team that decides to beat up a first base coach. Ever. (Yet another reason to be glad our tickets aren't in that section any more.)

Here's my deal: in general, I DON'T COME TO BASEBALL GAMES TO WATCH YOU! If you're hot, female and naked, I'll make an exception...but I don't ever really expect to have to make that exception. Stay on your side of the fence and watch the effin' game. (If you're out to get ****faced, the beers are a lot cheaper if you just buy 'em at the store and take 'em home to drink. Have yourselves a TV party, morons.)

And while we're at it, on a much, much less important note: it's not the eighties anymore, and you're not at a college football game. Every time the wave goes around Camden Yards, our collective IQ drops another point. Stop. Stop now. Stop before you convince yourselves that Delaware has WMD and must be invaded...

I haven't defended anything other than this point-of-view. And, unlike a lot of folks on here, I do actually care what folks think of me - and when I've been told that I'm being an ass, I try to change my ways.

I'm not "going to the wall" for anyone, by the way. I just happen to think that piling on is silly unless it's absolutely warranted. In this case, it wasn't.

If anything - rather than defending those who rip the O's - I assumed my reputation was as someone who is too passive, too accepting of the status quo in Baltimore. I don't think that's necessarily true, but my attempts to stay objective (at all times) can be read that way, I'd imagine.

Anyway, impressed or not, it's pretty much irrelevant. Puck survived, the thread got derailed from its death spiral of invective, and my respect for those posters on the other side I usually agree with is intact. No harm. No foul.

I'd chastise Gord for using "frat boy" as a perjorative because it's tired and lazy but tired and lazy is likely right in his wheelhouse. Don't want him to overexert himself.

One of my favorite Candid Camera stunts was when they set up a roadblock at the Delaware state line and told motorists they had to turn around and go back because the entire State of Delaware was closed for repairs that day.

Classic Candid Camera. I remember that...

Jim,

It is easy to stand on the sideline and say he is overreacting. It is a very different thing when your heart is racing as someone comes up behind a person for whom you feel a responsibility.

I've got to be honest. I'm not a violent person by nature, but I would bet large amounts of money that this stupidity of young "adult" males jumping on the field would end in an instant if the person jumping on the field knew that they were going to physically punished (not tortured) when they were caught. On the other hand, a lengthy time in jail would probably have the exact same effect.

Finally, Trembley called them idiots with just cause and he isn't apologizing for it. Puck is doing the same. The difference is that I agree with Trembley so I'm fine with it. That is my choice.

I have been reading here for a long time, and you are one of my favorite posters. But are you really suggesting that someone who does this should be physically punished or serve a long time in jail?

Deterrence only works when it is suitable to the crime. No one deserves to be "physically punished" or serve "a lengthy time in jail" for such an act.

This conversation is becoming a little bit ridiculous.

Look, Seinfeld can have a SoupNazi, I think Puck can use the same metaphor. It's part of the contemporary vernacular.

It's nowhere near Shack's reference to Puck as "*****weed."

This piling on needs to stop. He hasn't been half as offensive or out-of-bounds as "respected" posters in this thread.

Good point.

Also, I think the only reason DT cared as much was because it caused Sherrill to get out of rhythm and it might have cost us the game.

By the way, did anyone see this during the game? The showed the guys being escorted off and DT screaming at them..How dangerous did that kid look?

Overall it's a somewhat humorous read while you're waiting out the rain delay.

Humorous? ughhhh....

Oh sure, we think it's funny when some idiot(s) come out of the stands to get their minute of fame..but what if they were not doing it to have fun?

What is wrong with this world when someone who believe respect is an imperative instead of if it makes "me" feel good...? Not only that, DT walks the walk...

Actually, I like my kids to see DTs interviews, etc. when he is always talking about respect...its few and far between these days.

Finally, why do I think that he would have kicked their butts...
