vs. ROYALS, 6/07

Even Colon is only 43. :(

I guarantee you not every player in the majors would have charged the mound there.

I've seen many guys get hit and quietly take their base.

I legitimately want to know, how often do players get intentionally hit with a 99mph fastball? It seems unusual (for a lot of reasons... there aren't that many guys throwing 99 in the first place, and on top of it, intentionally throwing at guys, they usually have the good sense not to throw it at speeds that can literally kill a man).

Davis got hit with a 96? 98? MPH pitch recently.

Davis didn't charge the mound.

Yes I'm sure it sucked.

You can't take yourself out of the lineup for an extended period of time.

I wouldn't call that "pulling him off". Didn't look like Kim needed much encouragement to back off.

Kim knew he had to get out there, but probably was just testing the waters to see how actually fake mad he was expected to get in MLB. I'd say the action between Machado and Ventura was a bit more animated than average, might give Kim the wrong impression haha.

Was that one intentional? The players seem to have a good idea of when it's intentional or not, and of course that has a huge impact on how they respond to it. An accident is an accident. When they know it's intentional, they're obviously going to be a lot more pissed about it.

He was trying to pull everyone out though.
If I am Buck I am much more likely to grab Kim than grab a guy like Crush.

I was joking Slim.

Tnt, if I'm Buck I'd go for Kim first since his situation on the team is unique. I have no idea if they brawl in Korea.

I would go for him first because Davis might run over me if I tried to stop him.

    • Kjerstad had a promising start last year and I had hoped that would carry on into this year, similar to Westburg. It hasn’t happened yet, but he really hasn’t been given much of a chance. In my opinion he is Santander’s replacement next year, maybe with a bit more time at DH. So I think once Hays is back we’ll see him sent back down and he’ll be back and forth sparingly. Then we all just gotta hold out hope he can be the slugger we think he can be in 2025.
    • O'Hearn has 4 more walks than strikeouts this year. That didn't used to be special, but it is in today's game. As far as I can see, Rafael Palmeiro in 2004 was the last to do it for the Orioles in a full season of ABs and he wasn't much of a hitter by then.
    • Barring injuries and Grod coming back how bout a rotating starter to the pen by committee. Lets keep a 5 man rotation, lets limit innings by making a starter a BP  arm for a couple of weeks, see who best plays up out of the pen. Only 4 starters in the post season. Just saying? Too much pitching, good problem to have.
    • I believe that Rubenstein is a very smart guy, has great people around him, is a very good business good businessman having amassed billions, is from the area (which brings about it's own understanding) AND is/has been a fan of the team all his life. With the combination of all those things, I believe that it is likely that he wants the Orioles to succeed very much and win a World Series (he even stated as much in one of his first public statements as owner). I also believe that he is interested in increasing his viability within this market. He has eyes and can see all the #2 and #35 shirts in the stands. You can't allow all/most of your superstar guys/franchise players/faces of the franchise to walk and grow your fanbase.  Extensions PLUS good drafting and developing PLUS a good international program is what will keep us from being limited to a 6/7 year window. But having said all that, you can't get these years back when you are the best/one of the best teams either (like we are this year). IMO we cannot afford to punt opportunities that are this good in the present for chances of promise that may never come in the future.
    • And played in 163 games. I get that he was often a surly character and that he continued to have a few interactions with fans that didn't fit into the Brooks or Cal mode of demeanor. But as a few writers have suggested, Belle, still in his prime at the age of 32, was on the track to a Hall of Fame career. It was not a foolish signing for a recently contending team that no longer had Raffy, Roberto Alomar, Eric Davis, and Chris Hoiles in the lineup.
    • Yes, that is a much better comparison in terms of similarities in skillsets. I too see much more Sandberg than I do Hardy.
    • And this is with a few bullpen hiccups along the way. I like that we are winning “winning ball club’s” games. Our last three wins have been those kinds of wins, where we may not have even out played our opponent, but won the game. (Well, we did out play Arizona on Saturday, but not the Friday or Wednesday games).  What concerns me a bit though is how close the Yankees are to us in the standings. We are off to an historically good start, but they have the same number of wins as us? We saw that team, and they’re not hat good. I’d like to start separating from the division a bit so we are not playing so many stressful games the way we had to down the stretch last year.  Back to the topic at hand, this has been a fun start, and I think it’s only gong to get better.
