Dick Bleier, your new favorite reliever

Wonder what the cutoff for salary is for the new Orioles way? I'm just surprised they didn't cut him and save the $350K. Clearly Bleier will never be here when the Orioles will be good.

Now 900K is not the $7-10 million Villar would get in arbitration, but it does beg the question of the cut off point? I can't imagine they tender Bundy now.

I think bringing Bleier back was to appease the season ticket holders.  ?

Yes, in fact, Bleier was never used last year in a way that the new rule prevents.     Paul Fry was used that way 6 times.

If were using multiple pitchers for less than 3 batters in a game we might need 20 pitchers to get through a game.

Villar frees up the $$$ to sign Bundy? Elias said something about "moving around resources" NOT really a quote but to that effect.

More funds available to stack up the Dominican Summer League team.

With a  bunch of $50K guys like last year? Hopefully we will see some bump in the type of talent they sign next year now that they've been down there a year.

Ha yes, I was joking. I’m also hoping for an upgrade in the quality of international talent the Orioles sign in 2020. Can’t expect to be top players in the international talent pool yet, but start building up the prospect pool in the farm system.

Could it be the $$ they just saved on Villar can now be used to spend the rest of their International cap? Isn't there a highly rated Cuban yet to sign?

They did sign a few $300-400 k guys last year.     Decent progress in year 1, and I expect more progress in year 2.

I has been reported that the have spent 3 mil + this period. I don't think that included Venezuelans for some reason. I don't recall where I saw it.
