He’s made some good waiver pickups to address the position player depth. Keeping Arajuo over a shuttle pitcher really taxed the pitching staff and cost us Drew Jackson.

I can evaluate that move after 10 games.

I don’t see how Araujo cost us Drew Jackson.   He was DFA two days before Jackson was.    Jackson was DFA to make room for Straily, who I believe we would have acquired in any event regardless of whether some other pitcher had been in Araujo’s spot previously.

Because having Arajuo taxed the pen so much that we eventually needed an 8 man pen. If we go with Yefry, Scott, Rogers, and the Shuttle theory, we keep a fresh arm and don’t kill the other 6 relievers. Straily would then have taken the “shuttle” player’s place and we stay at a 7 man pen. Thus allowing us to keep a 4 man bench and Drew Jackson.

I think that’s pretty speculative.

I don’t man. I think it was pretty obvious that Arajuo was terrible in ST. We would have been much better off using that spot to rotate fresh arms.

Keeping Arajuo directly led to us losing Jackson.

Exactly,

Can you image the OH if it had been around in the 14 dry spell?

Tony started the Hangout in the late 90s.  I'm pretty sure I've been here since '01 or '02 or something.  I think Frobby already had thousands of posts at that point.

Edit: I know that by '03 I was writing articles for the site.  My first one was probably a poorly written one on Deivi Cruz, and I remember driving to Wilmington to see the Keys play and Ryan Hannaman make his organizational debut and write about it.  Hannaman was one of the big pieces they got in exchange for Sir Sid.  Both those happened in 2003.  Hannaman's career barely lasted into '04.

I have questioned a lot of Hyde's moves so far.  Then I remember that he is managing guys who probably are just happy to be in the majors.

And then I don't feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddd!
