Keegan Akin 2019

Akin with a win on Sunday - one run in five innings with six strikeouts and five walks.

Even though he's not put it together yet, looking at the International League stats he's first in the league in strikeouts, 15th in WHIP and fifth in ERA.

I think we'll see him in Baltimore after Cashner is dealt.

This isn't the same IL we're used too.  Comparatively to other pitchers, he's an IL all star.

Akin did not record an out and was removed from the game after two batters. He was credited with 2ER allowed and two hits after being relieved by Tyler Herb who allowed two runs in five innings plus the two Akin left on base. All four runs scored in the first. Seems Akin may have left with an injury. Any news?

He started the game last night. He gave up back to back singles before the game was rained out. No injury.

Akin is starting the AAA All Star Game tonight.

That is kind of surprising.    But interesting fact: of the 39 pitchers who have 10 or more starts in the IL, only 10 of them haven’t pitched in the majors at some point this year.    And I couldn’t tell you how many of the 29 are in the majors right now.   Of the 10, Akin has the second most AAA starts this year (16) and the 5th lowest ERA.    The ones lower than Akin in ERA have only made 12-13 starts.    So maybe that explains his selection.
