With the way the O's CFs have played this year, they probably should have brought back Jones if he had interested in returning. He could have at least been a cheap one-year stopgap measure.

Who wouldn't want a replacement level outfielder (0 rWAR) with no trade protection for three million?

Rickard (849 AB)

.245/.299/.372/.671
OPS+: 81
WAR: 1.2

Broxton (840 AB)

.214/.300/.395/.695
OPS+: 82
WAR: 3.3

So, based on what? Almost the same amount of ABs. Broxton almost triple the WAR of Rickard and has better tools. That's probably Rickard's ceiling. If Broxton's contact tool is a little better, he's likely a starter. He's really one average tool away from it. Don't see your basis in saying that. Broxton has been better than Rickard in almost the same number of ABs.

Anyway, don't get the love affair with Rickard. He wasn't good and couldn't have gotten much better. Broxton at least has potential in that area, but doesn't look like he will realize it due to his very poor contact tool. Broxton was completely worth the flier. Nothing at all wrong with trying.

I am talking about right now.  Broxton is horrible. Worse than Davis. Striking out close to half his at bats.  No love of Richard but as of right now he is a lot better than Broxton. Also Broxton is 29.  He isn’t getting better,  stick a fork in him

This season, Joey was at -0.1WAR. Broxton is -0.8.

Broxton WRC is THIRTY-TWO(32)

Joey’s is 73.

Neither is the Risen Savior, but Joey is better. It’s somewhat disingenuous to talk about career totals, because two years ago doesn’t matter. Not only is Joey better now? Joey makes contact, which means he makes things happen.

Joey has 2DRS, Broxton has 1DRS.

Even if Broxton has a better arm, overall, Joey is better. It’s moot now, but Broxton makes the team weaker and offers nothing.
