Yea that was possible…which is why I didn’t want to offer the QO because it’s possible he takes the QO (which will be 22-23M) and then try a longer deal after. But now the QO is definitely rejected. This year has definitely made him money and we shouldn’t even consider it. -

But were they coming off the hands-down best year of their career and heading into a weak free agent class with a long line of potential suitors chomping at the bit to add offense to their clubs? He will be able to at least triple the QO in free agency, maybe even quadruple it. If I was his agent, he would have to step over my corpse to reach the desk the 1 year QO contract is resting on to sign it. I agree that it isn't a crazy outlier, but it is a clear career year that just so happened to coincide with his walk year. -
I always thought he'd get more than the consensus here did anyway. I thought he was looking at a 3-50 coming into this year. -

I think he’s getting 70-100M over 3-5 years which is, unquestionably, more than he would have gotten last year.
