Dual citizenship of Israel and US, his parents are Israeli and served in the military there.  He spends two months of every year in Israel and had his bar mitzvah there.  He'll become the first Israeli citizen to pitch in the majors.

I had known he pitched for Team Israel in the WBC but a lot of guys played for countries just based on ancestry (see Team Italy, or Manny playing for Team DR).  I hadn't realized his Israeli citizenship and real ties to the country until I read about it today.

Cool.

It's mandatory so I'd be shocked if they hadn't.

If he were he would have promoted Akin, Kremer, Mountcastle( and not just them) long ago, and dumped the Hess gang even sooner.

still a bit salty about all that...

Better late than never. It’s awesome that these young guys are getting a taste of a playoff race of sorts. Props to Elias for deviating from his plan to tank to get them this invaluable experience. I have no issue with how long he’s waited (which actually isn’t even that long at all.)

I understand what you’re saying, but I respectfully suggest that there was no reason to leave them down, especially because we had so much deadwood up here. I’m curious as to both why Elias kept them down so long, and why he suddenly changed his mind. Based on his past actions as well as his own comments, win/loss record has nothing to do with it.
im certainly not complaining that it has started, but I’m unhappy it took so long.
