In 2017, in 358 fewer plate appearances and 43 total games playing LF/DH/1B, rookie Nicky Delmonico put up 1.1 WAR more than C. Davis for about 22.5 million less dollars. And that was C.'s last barely tolerable season (OPS+ 96).

Yea, but since then he's been worth -1.1 wins in less than 400 PAs.  A .650 OPS with a -7 glove in LF is how you get flat-out released at 26.  But I'm guessing someone will pick him up and put him in AAA.  Or he could play in an indy league or Japan for the next decade.

Could join Tyler Wilson in the Korean League.

From a Braves reporter:

Kevin Gausman's last three starts combined: 8.2 IP, 25 H, 17 ER. At this point, I'd be shocked to see him make his next scheduled start this weekend against Philly.

The guy is so mystifying, man. He drove me absolutely nuts.

One thing that hasn't been said much is that it doesn't appear issues were at the major league level.  None of our ex-players are really playing any better for other teams.  And of the holdovers, there really aren't any that are having a better year.  In other words, our problems weren't on Buck and his staff.

At the end of the day, the athletes have to perform. I could look at analytics chart all day and still would never catch up to a major league fastball. Talent plays.

Machado is down to a .730 OPS.   Only 9 more years at $32 million a year for the Padres.  LOL at the Padres.

It’s $30 mm/yr, not $32 mm.    So, all is well.

I’d never judge a 10 year deal based on a 5-6 week slump, though.
