Matt Olson hit a ball that ricocheted off of the L-screen in the batting cage, and hit him in the left eye. Olson had X-rays ...... Athletics manager Bob Melvin said that there are no broken bones, but that Hes got quite the shiner.

76 % of the outs that Means recorded (16 out of 21) came via the Strikeout and the Groundout.

With the exception of the 2nd inning, Means was very pitch-efficient.

33% swingstr% tonight!

Combine that with a str% of almost 68% and Means is balling right now.

Definitely one of the best starters in baseball right now and has a case to being the second best lefty starter in the game at the moment.

How fast can we trade him?!

He will get Cy Young votes at this rate. Probably a top 5 finisher. Remains to be seen if this is for real or just a hot stretch.

But you can’t deny that he’s schooled the A’s twice in a week. That’s hard to do.

Hard to get votes when you change leagues midseason.

I remember when Willie McGee won the National League batting title in 1990, even though he played the final month of the season (plus the post-season) for the Oakland Athletics.

His trade from St. Louis to Oakland was waaaaaay past the mid-season point when it happened, but the sentiment immediately brought that to mind for me.

Oh, we’re all of a sudden on the TRADE MEANS BANDWAGON!! now?

Great. Four months of hypothetical trades and and then incessant whining when he’s not traded. Can’t wait.

Made me laff.....surely you expected nothing else? At least we’re talking about a guy who has legit value, instead of all the guys who don’t.
And Bleacher Report’s first “trade target” article will feature Means Prominently. And their first “Deadline trades: Fact or Fiction” article. And their first “Best pitchers available: Darlings, Duds, and Darkhorses” article.  And they will retitle and reprint these articles twice a week until July, and once a week AFTER July. And I I bet the As would love to have him.
