This trade took some time to develop due to the Angels not having guys pitch in the year that they were drafted, and then COVID, but it’s starting to look really good for us. Bradish, Brnovich, and Peek, are all in our organization top 30 list.

Bundy wasn’t going to help us win anything, and hasn’t helped the Angels. We came away with three arms for the future, and three arms that Elias has identified.

So far the arms that Elias has identified in his various trades have had success with us. So there is some reason for optimism.

Quick note on Bundy. In the Angels' amazing come-from-behind victory over the NYYs last night, Bundy bounced back from his Monday debacle to pitch two shutout innings (0 hits, 3 Ks, 1 BB) in relief.

That's just an excuse to describe last night's game. The Yankees shelled Ohtani for 7 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in 2/3 of an inning. Behind 7-2, the Halos climbed back a bit while Bundy and others held the fort, making it 8-4 entering the top of the ninth. With a 90-minute rain delay, it was close to midnight when Chapman came in to finish things off. He couldn't throw a strike,  walked the bases loaded, then aimed a slider that Jared Walsh clobbered for a game-tying grand slam. Exit Chapman. After the Angels beat up Lucas Luetge for three more runs. It took just nine pitches and about 4 minutes to retire the apparently dispirited NYYs in the ninth. Angels 11, NYYs 8.

Having made the dubious decision after the Orioles game to stay up for the conclusion, I hung around for the post-game comments from 5 or 6 YES announcers - usually big-time apologists -- and Aaron Boone, who all agreed this was a devastating defeat that may have a lasting effect on the NYYs. "Shell-shocked" was a term used repeatedly. If you're interested, I invite you to read the NY Post's coverage. Sample headline: "Aroldis Chapman may have just burned down Yankees season."
