Hays now with a line of 224/289/394

Santander 234/268/374

Stewart 207/316/366

At what point do they go in another direction with these three and call up Jones and McKenna? Im not ready to think Diaz is going to stay healthy but he is in AAA for the first time ever this week.

Elias seems to want to get prospects 100 AB before moving them up if they are dominating.   McKenna .271 average is not dominating even if he .365 OBP is.  Its nice that he can get on base with walks but before O's management says he is done with AAA they probably would like the average to rise.

Jones just need to keep hitting and get to 100 ABs IMO.   They can make room in LF for him if his defense in not up to major league standards at 2B.    Hays and/or Santander to the IL when someone pushes them out is a good thing for them and the team if they are not hitting. Let they get healthy and do a rehab  at AAA to get their bats going.

Stewart is not hitting enough to hold his spot right now.  He could be optioned if he doesn't hit better.   He doesn't have anything to prove at AAA.  But if others players pass him that is part of improving the team.

105.7 hosts were discussing Austin Hays’s health and brought up the fact his sprint speed has dropped from the 92nd to the 57th percentile.  Although its not uncommon for athletes to lose a little bit of their top speed in their mid-20s, that’s a really significant drop for someone who is only 26.  Also, there are plenty of guys who maintain their speed into their late 20s.  For example, Trea Turner (30.7 age 22 and 30.7 age 27), Billy Hamilton (29.8 age 25 and 29.7 age 31), and Mike Trout (29.7 age 24 and 29.3 age 30) to name a few.

So, my take-away is that he is most definitely playing injured.  The next  question is how much does having two hamstrings less than 100% affect him at the plate, where he has been struggling mightily this season?
