Orioles have a "major announcement" at 9am on Friday 2/18 at Camden Yards. (Update: McCartney concert announced)

The mayor Brandon Scott will be there for the announcement as well. Seems likely to be lease renewal at OPACY for the Orioles with the mayor being there for it. I'm not sure what else it could be.

That would be great, but I'd be surprised if that happened before they got approval to raise the debt limit for renovations.

If it's a lease extension, big eyeroll from me.  That's something that doesn't really need a "big announcement," IMO.  A press release would suffice.

Plus it shutdowns any additional conversation on OH that the Orioles might relocate to Nashville, etc.

Gotta think that the Maryland Stadium Authority and Gov. Larry Hogan would be controlling the narrative on any significant lease extension. 
Some sort of youth initiative for city youth is my guess.  Baseball academy, summer camps, summer jobs something along those lines.  Now if you want it to be a big surprise announcement somehow involve Adam Jones!

Speculation is it could be a concert. Would think other politicians would be involved if it was gambling related.

Ok, now that would be a letdown if this special announcement is just  to announce a Journey concert this August.
