I thought we'd be better up and down the minors this year.  Aberdeen is great, but everyone else under 500.  Delmarva perhaps not as surprising given the youth, but Norfolk and Bowie are surprising on the down side.

Delmarva is the weakest team I've seen in an O's farm system in quite a while.   There are no high-priority prospects to follow and most of the team appears to be overmatched.   But there are several exciting players to follow at the higher levels!

I actually enjoy following Delmarva.   Darell Henaiz is not a high-priority prospect?   I could see him being a top 10 guy by opening day next season.  It's a huge jump from FCL to full season and I'm curiously watching Mishael Deson, Noelberth Romero, Luis Valdez, Creed Williams, Isaac Deleon, and Moises Ramirez to see if anyone emerges.   Remember, Hernaiz was 19 going on 20 last year and did't do much more than hold his own.   Deson is 19 going on 20 this year.   Creed Williams is 18 going on 19.   Romero and Ramierz are 20.    Hernaiz made a big jump, it apears.   Deson is definitely a guy who probably needs to get stronger.   Romero, apparently has already made strides there.   DeLeon shows some signs and also looks like a guy who could get stronger.   At that age, it's hard to know who might emerge.

In addition, we have 3 exciting pitching prospects in Moises Chace, Raul Rangel, and Delosantos.   Chace is 18 going on 19.  Rangel is 19.  Delosantos is a big boy and is 20.

Week ending May 15

Norfolk (15-21) went 1-5 against Memphis (20-16).   Next up: Charlotte (14-21).

Bowie (13-18) went 1-5 against Reading (16-17).  Next up:  Hartford  (19-14).

Aberdeen (24-7) went 5-2 against Hudson Valley (15-17).  Next up: Rome (19-14).

Delmarva (10-23) went 1-5 against Salem (17-16).   Next up: Fredericksburg (19-13).

Putrid play by three of the four teams.  Bowie has three starting pitchers out right now, which largely explains their struggles.

This feels like the "donut hole" between neglect of 16-year-olds 3-4 years ago, and the skew towards 21-year-olds at 18-year-olds expense the last 3-4 years.    Even with the bone of Hernaiz as "Delmarva A-Rod" to anchor the lineup.

Getting chunks of our first group (loosely counting the ~17-year-olds acquired in trade in with them) to the full-season stateside leagues is one of those where it happening at all is I guess the baby step before it happening well.    Be interesting to see whether Kjerstad can get there at all quickly and how long he'll stay.  We knew those first groups we/Koby were late to the party.

I guess unveiling Willems in a depleted lineup has some parallels to if Adley joined the Orioles while Hays-Mountcastle down.   I have always kind of had the Pass/Fail if a hot HS pick could make Delmarva the next year, but position player wise do accept catcher probably the trickiest one to do that jump.   I could see this year as a qualified success if he doesn't drown.     Where is Samuel Basallo?
