Buck inherited a bad team but there were some young players and some pieces in the farm to work with.  Adam Jones, Weiters, Tillman, Britton all of those guys were in the system when DD took over and were big parts of the winning teams.  I don't think there is anyone that was in the system when Elias took over and will be part of winning teams.  Granted the time tables are different.

I think I know what you mean but GrayRod, DL Hall, Hays, Mullins, Santander, etc were in the system before Elias. I sure hope they are part of the next winning team.

Wow, good call, I totally over looked that.

I think that is my point. We're in a different place because we've followed a completely different strategy. When Elias started we were in a much worse situation than DD inherited.

I think you are correct. The O's were in the middle of the Dark Ages. I don't remember the number of losing season but it was like 12 straight years and they were desperate to just get back to .500. DD's marching orders were to win ASAP. There was little to no thought about the mid-long term health of the team.

Resources for trade my man 😎

Mateo had a great night but he still needs to improve his walk rate and maintain his improved batting.

Right. He’s by no means a good hitter but he’s not an automatic out and he’s a threat.

I really hope the 2 HR night doesn’t bring him back to the pull everything mindset. The OBP is still only .264. He needs to be in the .300 range to have any chance of being a regular on a contender. The ability is there, it’s just a matter of having consistently good ABs.

He is a regular on a contender. Haha.  Just saying!

Not when Henderson and Westburg are here. And having the 15th best record in MLB is not a contender.

Henderson and Westburg are not here, and unfortunately under the rules the Orioles are a contender for a playoff spot.
