Isaac Bellony, a 20-year-old outfielder who signed for $220,000 in 2018 as one of the few "major" international signings of the Dan Duquette era, is holding his own with the Shorebirds.

He hit his fifth homer today to raise his slash line to .247/.362/.474. 

The Carolina League (so weird that that is the A-ball league, not the high-A league) is a pitcher's league with a league wide OPS of .683, so Bellony's .836 OPS ranks in the top-25 in the league, 15th among those with at least 100 plate appearances. Darrell Hernaiz is the only Shorebird ahead of him.

He has mostly played right field this season.

Curious to hear a scouting take on him, hopefully I will get to see him this summer with the Shorebirds at some point.

Edit: Tony had a take on him earlier today that I didn't see before starting this thread.

He hit for the cycle btw yesterday. Huge day. Congrats to him. So what’s the scouting report?  
 

He’s got some SO in his game with 54 of those in 34 games, But he walks too. 24 of those. .377 OBP. 
 

Switch Hitter

.934 OPS vs RHP

.550 OPS vs. LHP

Is he an OF or 1B?  6-2 220 20 yo

Don’t have a scouting report for you but he’s given switch hitting for now. Been hitting left handed against all pitching for about the last 3 weeks.

Two weeks later though, it appears not enough to keep him up at Aberdeen.

He was announced by the PA last night in Delmarva's lineup, which I assured my wife was wrong because "that guy's not even on the team anymore".    But looks like a strategic retreat has indeed been called for in this case.
