Congrats to Nevin so far. Anyone with his skill set that keeps making it through purges has either incriminating pics or has found the way for Sig's computer to think he still can be something.

It would be nice if they can slip him through waivers to AAA.  In 156 AAA games over the last two years, 34 doubles, 39 homers, and 115 RBI.   Cameron should be a fine AAA player as well.   There’s always the 1% chance they turn into ML assets.

Yikes, even cherry pickers are like, "Damn, you cherry pickin' stats."

You conveniently left out his low BA, fairly low OBP, and 58 to 135 BB to K ratio over that period. I do agree with your chances though. 1% sounds about right.

Definitely cherry picking. I wasn't making a case for him being good but any way you slice it, 39 homers in 156 AAA games is impressive.  That was the point.  He obviously has power and supposedly he's a very good glove man at 1B.  It's not much but it's something.

What is Norfolk's Opening Night lineup now?     Maybe challenge those Durham Bulls.

C Bemboom, 1B Lewin Diaz, 2B Norby, SS Ortiz, 3B Westburg (later Mayo), LF Cowser, CF Daz, RF Franchy (Stowers?)

Tyler Nevin's probably could do a good AAA DH (is DJ Stewart still around?)

Just figuring both Mateo and Urias hold their first string jobs in this scenario.

I agree and Prieto plays 3B in Norfolk while Mayo, Hernaiz, and Burns start in Bowie.  Maybe.

TRACK RECORD: Diaz signed with the Twins for $1.4 million in 2013 but failed to advance past high Class A for five years due to injuries and inconsistency. He finally broke through in 2019 and was acquired by the Marlins for closer Sergio Romo and pitching prospect Chris Vallimont. Diaz’s production slipped after the trade, but he still made the Marlins’ 60-man player pool in 2020 and received his first big league callup in August. 
SCOUTING REPORT: Diaz is a lefthanded power hitter who can drive the ball to all fields. Even when he’s not hitting home runs, he has a knack for racking up extra-base hits. He totaled 27 homers, 33 doubles and two triples in 2019, taking many of them to left or left-center field. Diaz doesn’t walk much but doesn’t strike out at a high rate, either. The Marlins have long felt Diaz’s defense at first base was well above-average and major league-ready. Diaz gave them a glimpse at the position while showing off his strong arm and solid mechanics around the bag in his 14-game debut.
THE FUTURE: Diaz’s plus defense at first base and potential middle-of-the-order power make him the Marlins’ first baseman of the future. He will have a chance to secure the everyday job as early as 2021.
