That's true... but you don't call of a 2B who's been camped under the ball for 5 seconds.  Gunnar should have backed off.  It's absolutely not a thing though.  Moving on.

Ha.  Well, if someone had needed to make a throw after the catch you'd certainly be right.  I do think Adam can still catch a popup hit right to him.

Many are willing to concede that Frazier shouldn't start and is bad in the field, so his utility is recast as a platoon/pinch hitter (and some have even whispered he's "clutch") against righties. Well, we saw it today. Down by one run in the bottom of the ninth inning and Adam Frazier is called in as a pinch hitter against a RHP. Hard liner for the final out.

He was put in for McCann, which fine. But McCann presumably isn't playing much in October. So how many guys are you pulling for Frazier in the playoffs? Is that a way you're comfortable going down?

It’s hard to know how Hyde will play things in October.  Will Mateo get any games at SS?

That's certainly not an ideal outcome given Mateo's bat. But at least you know what you have with Jorge, whereas it seems like running Frazier out there is crossing your fingers that he'll tap into whatever magic he has conjured up this year to hit homers, because it's not like his .245 average against righties this season is money in the bank.

I wish Ortiz had been given a fair shot at SS so that Gunnar could be put at 3B and Westburg/Urias split 2B, but that's probably water under the bridge this late in the game.

This has been the issue with keeping him. You may never have the situation come up that makes sense.

Are you letting Urias hit off a tough RHP? Or maybe Westburg depending?

People like to dismiss Mateo's skills as very niche, but the fastest guy on the team and the only alternative to a rookie at SS seem like more defined roles than a guy who is kind of okay against righties and bad at everything else.

Ramon actually hits righties much better than he does lefties. And Ramon has a higher 2023 and career average and OPS against righties than Frazier. So absolutely.

Westburg is a tougher call simply because he's a rookie and you want a good at bat in a pressure situation in the playoffs. But when you take a step back, it's kind of insane to hope that Frazier is going to tap into power more than Westburg.
