I buckled, and stood in a 15 minute line only to get to the grill area and have them tell me 5 more minutes for tenders. So we waited, and waited, and then the food was blah. They were $14 too. Never again :) 

I was at all three games this weekend. I love the grab your own beer shops.

I took my young son to his first Orioles game at Camden Yards today, we had a blast. The Russell St exit was backed up on i95 almost a mile from the exit (worst backup in 32 seasons taking that exit),

Through 30 home dates (Friday’s game), the O’s attendance was 602,069, up from 472,840 last year, a 27.3% increase. If that rate of increase were maintained, the O’s would draw 1.737 mm fans this year

Tell me more, apparently I've missed this. We always sit in Section 10, so we basically go from the south Eutaw gate straight to our seats and rarely venture away from our seats. I always know I should explore more, but if I'm there for a game I want to watch it in it's entirety, but I can always be bribed with easy access to beer.

In the lower concourse, there are many beer stores, where you grab a can or two, self checkout and are back in your seat before the next inning starts ⚾️🍺

I call BS on this. The A's have not drawn well for a long time. Oakland Athletics Attendance, Stadiums, and Park Factors | Baseball-Reference.com

Maybe it's Oakland, maybe it's because they play in the worst open-air stadium in MLB, maybe it's because the team stinks and is making no effort to improve. Maybe it's all of the above. But the fact they have an awful person as an owner and could draw 27,759 for a well organized protest of that owner doesn't remotely "prov[e] they'd support a team that supports them." That's 27,000-plus for one hyped game. Seventeen MLB teams average over 27,000 fans per home game.

Their stadium really does suck. I went to a game there in the early 80’s and it was bad then - and 40+ years have gone by since then with no significant upgrades.  I definitely think they could draw much better with an updated stadium.   But the government doesn’t feel it’s worth it, and perhaps that’s a wise decision.

Do you think a team in Vegas is going to average 27K a game once the novelty wears off?

I don't.

I have a crazy idea.  Maybe the billionaire owner of the team could build his own stadium.

I don't.

The hockey team draws well.  They are planning on putting it right on the strip.  I imagine they’d  have no issues filling seats.

They average 18K.

The Lightning average 19K.

I'm not sure hockey attendance is a good reference point.

Oakland is a bad baseball stadium. Now it is Ring or whatever stupid name. Been there twice and dumpier each time. Been a long road and seemed to be looking for a stadium location forever. Jack London square was the last hope,but like the Call of the Wild they have Vegas calling

      On #1: the question is whether all of Mayo, Kjerstad, Cowser, and Holliday have everyday roles or if are some platooned or held back in Norfolk or traded? If they all play everyday, there’s not really a meaty role to offer to a new bat. In the various post-mortems, this seems to be one of the biggest points of differences among posters.  Some want no logjams while others want one or more proven MOO professional hitters and don’t want to rely on Holliday or Mayo. My view is in the middle of the spectrum. I think at least one of Cowser or Mullins needs to sit vs. LHP, so we need a lefty masher capable of playing left field at Camden.  I think we may consider trading Mounty to make room for Mayo.

      I find #8 to be an interesting one. On the one hand, McCann seems well-liked, he brings some toughness and veteran presence, and he actually had his best offensive season since 2020. At 35, you can probably have him for a 1 year deal if you want. And Basallo isn't really that close to coming up and catching just yet. He's a deep 2nd half kind of callup if you need him. And it's not like the free agent backup catcher market is much better than McCann. On the other hand, I have a sour taste in my mouth from game 1 where he couldn't make contact with men on base. Adley certainly didn't get any better under his wise tutelage. And maybe there are guys out there who surpass McCann defensively and bring a different wrinkle to the clubhouse. So I wouldn't be mad about a change.

      This is my thought process regarding the pitching staff next season, ideally we resign Burnes but if not another TOR like Snell or Fried need to be signed this offseason.  Eflin GRod and Kremer are a really solid 2,3,4 the 5 spot is open to competition but realistically there will probably be some injuries or fatigue that require all of these guys contributing.

      1. Where on the spectrum should Elias anchor between “let the kids play” vs. “sign proven bats”? 2. How do we get a right-handed bat to come here given Walltimore? 3. How many years do you think we should be willing to commit to a starting pitcher?  Where do you expect Elias to fall? 4. Between vets, rookies, and prospects, who can we trade / should we trade / do we trade for pitching or a bat? 5. What budget will ownership give to Elias? To what extent will he max out on his constraint? 6. What coaching and front-office personnel changes should/will we make? What about infrastructure or changes to org philosophies? 7. Whom, if anyone, should we try to extend, considering their agent and what they will likely demand financially?  8. For backup catcher, do we re-up McCann or go in a different direction? 9.
