I agree with you.  He needs to hit the pitches he swings at, and maybe be a little less choosy with two strikes.  Meanwhile I’ll take the .365 OBP while he figures it out.

This.  Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one. He's just getting his sea legs under him.  He needs to cover a larger portion of the shadow zone pitches with 2 strikes.

Gunnar ML career through 49 games, 164 AB: .232/.354/.390/.744. 30 walks to 52 Ks, 5 homers.

That's pretty solid honestly.

I think you are pretty generous with a "solid" or even  a "pretty solid" appraisal. About a 1 to 3 strike out ratio? I am curious as to whether this is the first time he has struggled in his professional career. If so, this might be hard for him to figure out and make necessary adjustments.

I will say, I am not a fan of his body language after he strikes out.

Agreed. I'd like to see some better body language from him but I think that will come with maturity. At least he's not out there throwing bats at people at 21.

For a rookie in his first 49 games? I'm sorry, but that's solid.

This bears repeating: "Cal Jr.‘s first 41 games that were a struggle.  .118 / .127 / .178 with only 1 BB and 17 K’s, a HR and 4 RBI."

We are talking about the unanimous #1 prospect in MLB at age 21, so yeah "solid"

First off that's just under a 1 to 2 strikeout ratio. Second off this isn't the first time he's struggled professionally -- he had rough patches in 2021. Generally speaking a .744 OPS for a young player just getting started in their first 44 games is fine. We obviously want him to be better - he will be.

You obviously aren’t familiar with his pro career to this point.
