Didn't you hear? The really, really smart people are certain that the guy worth 0.6 WAR for his career is better than the guy who has outpaced him by 15x because.... well, feelings or something. -

Because that seems to be a bit much for the 26th man on the roster. I get it, McKenna isn't a great player and no one should get it twisted that I think he is. I just happen to think that the difference between him and Hays isn't a wide gap at this point in time. But my goodness, the way some of you hate on McKenna, it's almost personal or something. It's really weird to be so angsty towards a player who doesn't get much playing time and probably won't be on the team that much longer. -
Ok. But the chances of Mayo playing 3B for the Orioles seem less than 50%. As far as 1B neither look good to me. As far as RF we know Kjerstad is probably average at best, maybe below average too. We know Mayo has a great arm but he might be slower than Kjerstad, get worse jumps than Kjerstad, and take worse routes. We really have no idea. -
Why is there no option for dropping off McKenna on a deserted island somewhere that Hyde and Elias cannot find him. -

Looks like? He was a lock 4 years ago. At this point, he’s just adding to his legacy. What it looks like is that he is heading on a path of being more Griffey Jr than Bonds. -

This especially true if a pitcher was closer part of the season and a set up man for another part. If said pitcher blows a game in the 8th, he is charged with a blown save. Whereas if that same pitcher "holds" the game, he only gets a hold. So, if one were to compare blown saves to successful saves for these type of relievers, it is an incomplete picture. Cano is a perfect example of this last year. He had 8 saves and 6 blown saves. But it's misleading to say he was 8 of 14. You'd have to look at successful holds to get the complete picture. In Cano's case, he had 31 holds - so he was 39 of 45 when combining the two. Point being most of those 6 blown saves were actually blown holds likely before the 9th (where Bautista would've come in to get the real save). Also, to your point, Kimbrel gets a hold where he was anything but effective. Same was true on Saturday. In my book, he blew both saves. He was bailed out by Cano (who would've been charged with the blown save if he allowed the tying run in that game) and then Akin officially blew the save on Wednesday allowing an inherited runner to score.
