Not convinced Elias has the GM relationships to get the right deals done - almost like there is some level of hazing occurring.    Other GM's to Elias - "you have great prospects, best in the game ...not going to take your 12th best prospects - need 1-2 of your top guys or no deal."  Elias - "ok no deal."   You don't win the trade deadline when you are  in first place by a couple of games, with a portion of your pitching staff running on fumes  and want to win the WS by saying - "we could not make a trade that met our requirements."    Not saying Elias should get taken but seems like he is not winning any of these negotiations right now.

Granted, SportsGuy just made a joke but when I say Baltimore is a dump with deep, deep social problems, unique in many ways even in a country with dozens of distressed urban areas, and it has a reputation nation-wide unparalleled as a dump with deep, deep social problems, that isn't a political statement.

And yes, it affects if guys want to come play here.

I’m not offended and your attempt to paint your obnoxious behavior as me just being “offended by the truth” is all the more reason to point it out. It wasn’t relevant to the conversation here anyway. It’s just you attempting to insert politics where it doesn’t belong.

Pretty sure other GM's aren't going to take a pass on acquiring talent on favorable terms just to mess with Elias.

No, Baltimore is uniquely the kind of place Justin Verlander- and others- would not waive  their no-trade clause to come play in.

That's relevant when talking about Justin Verlander waiving his no-trade clause to come play in Baltimore.

Dumbest post I've read on here in awhile.  I live in LA.  Have you been to Hollywood lately -- or looked at the all the homeless under the 405 freeway?  Does that stop people wanting to play for the Dodgers?  And have you ever been to St Louis or Detroit or Philly?  The only reason people call out Baltimore as a slum compared to any other American city is because of The Wire or because they have a political axe to grind.
